Andrew Holden and The Joy of Eating are absolutely magnificent. We hired Andrew for our 75-person casual wedding celebration in an art gallery in DC. We served a standing, cocktail-style dinner, so our caterer needed to go the extra mile to design the menu, presentation, and service. First, the food was just delicious. Andrew's food was the best we have ever had from a caterer, either in our search or at other events, and our guests absolutely loved it. The menu was original and unique, and all of the elements worked - hot items were hot, cold items cold, filo wrapped grilled asparagus crispy, braised pork shoulder sliders tender and rich. Second, working with Andrew was a joy. He did an extensive food tasting, wine tasting and two visits to the event space to plan the service and presentation. Throughout, Andrew was superb. He offered advice and ideas thoughtfully, listened intently and absorbed our vision for the event. Third, we had a tight budget, and Andrew worked with it without hesitation or surprises. Andrew's price quote was extremely competitive compared to what is generally considered the going rate for caterers in DC, and he provided detailed estimates and had straightforward discussions of cost and options to manage cost. Finally, Andrew consistently went the extra mile to ensure everything met our hopes and our vision. I found a local craft brewery a week before the wedding and Andrew added it to the bar menu. The venue really preferred to work with their own list of preferred caterers, but Andrew managed the relationship expertly, made them comfortable, and even hired one of their regular event staff to ensure smooth operations. Bottom line, I will absolutely hire Andrew and The Joy of Eating any time I need a caterer and will refer him to friends and colleagues enthusiastically.

We picked Andrew Holden's Joy of Eating to cater my daughter’s wedding since I wanted to support a young entrepreneur in his effort to grow his business. Also, my daughter is a real foodie and the food for her wedding had to be a key focal point. Andrew did not fail us. Using seasonal local produce and working with our requests, he created a bridal feast that was fresh, flavorful and special. He was very flexible, working continually with my daughter in selecting appropriate table linens and other necessary items to make the whole presentation perfect. Chef, Andrew Holden is more than qualified to meet any culinary need. I was worried when the responsibility of planning my dads 50th birthday fell into my hands! My friend recommended The Joy of Eating and Andrew made it so simple for me to figure out my budget and plan a beautiful family style dinner and cocktail reception. His staff was extremely sweet and professional. They provided white glove service and really made my event special. What obviously stood out to me and really impressed myself and our guests was the food. His food is AMAZING. I knew Andrew had a lot of experience but only natural talent is capable of making every step in the process smooth and produce such creativity in the kitchen. I'm not the type to write reviews but I would like to share this with you if you're like me and don't want to ruin your guests night with the thought of your own cooking! Andrew is the best and is a lot of fun to work with. He explains everything in detail and most importantly delivers a great product seamlessly.

We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday party with catering from Andrew Holden's Joy of Eating. I have to say, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The food was fabulous....way before the event, Andrew worked with me to cater to my specific needs. He offered suggestions when asked, and changed things to suit my needs without any hesitation. I had a lot of vegetarian/no meat guests, and he accommodated us with excellent seafood/veg options. On top of all this, he helped with the serving, and even cleaned up! One of my guests wanted to take him home! His prices are reasonable and he worked within my budget. Several guests asked for his card and I have apparently "raised the bar" for parties....Thanks Andrew!
