Prior to becoming a freelance writer and editor I served as the Manager of Acquisition and Development for ASTD Press (the publishing division of a non-profit organization located in Alexandria, VA) and was Executive Editor at McGraw-Hill. I am the author of Images of the Southern Writer, an acclaimed book of Southern writer portraits and essays that included candid, environmental portraits of Tennessee Williams, Eudora Welty, Walker Percy, Cormac McCarthy, William Styron, Erskine Caldwell, Anne Tyler, and dozens of other celebrated Southern writers.
