I've had three lessons with Morgan, and I'm happy to be working with him. He's patient, knowledgeable, and personableexactly what I was looking for in a guitar teacher.Oct 11, 2015Verified
From first lesson, Morgan convinces you that you will be a guitar player.May 19, 2015Verified
Guitar Lessons (for adults)
I had never strummed a chord before taking lessons with Morgan and couldn't believe the progress I made after only one year - I now have a binder full of songs I love which I can play with confidence! His ability to break down complex music theory was most valuable, as he encourages students to figure out the notes and techniques without relying on tabs and sheet music, and is very amenable to teaching the genre you want to learn. I would highly recommend Morgan to anyone who's looking for a friendly, casual, fun and valuable experience when learning guitar!Sep 27, 2017Verified
Morgan is a great guitar teacher. I have taken lessons off and on since 1972. That's a long time. Each time the teacher would show me some dreaded "music theory". I always resisted and just went to "show me the chords...show me the licks." Guess what? Morgan got through to my hard head after all these years. His method of showing theory is reasonable and logical and I FINALLY got it!! Hooray! The benefits of understanding the WHY behind the guitar and not just the HOW are ENORMUS. I Highly recommend Morgan.Nov 21, 2011Verified
I was hacking along for the last 10 years not advancing at all with my guitar playing. In about 20 lessons, Morgan taught me the basic fundamentals of music theory I lacked and gave me teh foundation to understand how to accomplish things I couldn't figure out on my own. I am now jamming with other players, feel confident in my ability to keep up and understand what they are doing and feel I have a real basis to progress even further. I am about to re-start lessons now that I have been practicing all I learned for the last 3-4 months. He's awesome...period...and he let me play a song with his band!Feb 13, 2013
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Pretty simple - $65 per lesson. No minimum, though students generally choose to pay for each month in advance. Excused lessons result in makeup lessons or credit into the next month. 24 hour notice is required if a lesson is missed for any except emergencies. Either way, makeups can usually be scheduled.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After our first contact, we should have a conversation about your goals and experience - we can do that here, via emails, or preferably on the phone. If we want to move forward we get out our calendars and pick a weekly time slot that's convenient for both of us and set up our first lesson. There's no requirement to sign up or pay for more than one lesson at a time, though you may want to prepay a block of lessons for convenience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I had music classes all through school (when they still had that) and took the equivalent of a music minor in college. Since then I've been learning new songs and techniques both in bands I play in and for my students. Staying up on the blogs and forums, books, magazines etc. I also research material for my books.
