Tim was EXTREMELY efficient, polite, honest, patient and HARDWORKING!!!! I would recommend him to anyone. I ended up asking him to complete to additional tasks to assembling furniture and he greatly obliged. He moved two very HEAVY pieces of furniture from the garage to the second floor all BY HIMSELF. My assumption is the average person doesn't know much about drywall repair. I say this because when you are quoted a price of a repair you will feel one way or the other about the quote. I would say that for what was paid I feel like I was "stealing" from Romberto based on the quality of work these guys completed. First of all the guys stated they would be on location at 7:30. They were here at 7:32. Based on where I live I will take that 10 times out of 10. Much better than a cable providers or appliance delivery that give you 2 - 4 hour windows and still show up late. They had their drop clothes and coverings to cover the furniture in the room. and they taped up all the surrounding areas to keep it clear and clean. The area of the repair was approximately 3' x 4' and than a separate fist sized hole. Entirely different types of repairs but these guys knocked it out with no problem. I will be hiring these guys again for any future jobs that I have. Thanks Romberto!!

Steve refinished several pieces of teak furniture. They are old and covered with peeling paint. Steve brought them back to the original natural finish. They look like new!

John Mark Power responded very promptly to our request for a quote and he showed up at our house within a day or two to see the furniture himself. He provided a timely quote and was very knowledgeable about the furniture. He has upholsterers that he works with and makes the process seamless.

This is the second job 5th Gen has done for us (the first was a kitchen remodel two years ago), and the experience has been excellent. These folks are craftsmen. The custom cabinets and shelves are beautiful, like a high quality piece of furniture. The individuals doing the work are very pleasant and have been careful to consult us before making any decisions about the work. This work was largely in our living room, and they cleaned up completely at the end of each day so that we could use the room in the evening. We woud hire them again in the future, and probably will. It took a while to get the job started as their schedule is full, but no different from other contractors, in our experience.

Although we cannot speak of Andrey's repair & refinishing furniture skills because we did not use his services, I can say that he was very responsive, very polite and very thoughtful in all of our communications. His quote was very feasible too.

We had several pieces of office furniture that needed assembling and Nate did an excellent job. He was on time, finished all pieces in a reasonable amount of time and offered to come back when one of the pieces was damaged during shipping. We couldn't be happier and will continue to have him back when the need arises.

I gave Carlos a very complex job of renovating a large antique Japanese tansu (a large chest). It involved removing all the (lots!, over 30 pieces) hardware, painting it black, repairing the locks that were frozen open, and reattaching each piece of hardware, finishing the front with Scotts Liquid Gold (rubbed in oil finish), painting top and sides, building a new back for the chest to enlarge it (antique chests commonly shrink on the sides) so that drawers that would not close now close beautifully. He was careful to plan the pickup and delivery with me so that I could reserve the freight elevator (high rise building). Overall a job done carefully and with careful communication to answer questions during the process.

I brought Craig three pieces of antique furniture to repair: my great-grandmother's Eastlake chair and side table, and an expanding table. I wish I had before pictures - all three pieces were badly scratched up. The expanding table had been previously repaired incorrectly, and had a wobbly leg. Craig restored each piece to its former beauty. I hope they will be pieces I can share with my grandchildren. Craig communicated clearly my options at each step - he gave his recommendation but was not pushy. He was committed to my project and took painstaking care to finish the details of these pieces in the correct way. Craig also helped me to coordinate an upholsterer for the chair. An overall excellent job by Craig. Four months later I am still fully satisfied. Thaddeus

About

I have been in business for 28 years, performing all types of furniture repair (excluding large upholstery pieces). Some repairs are done in the home while other pieces need to be brought back to the shop for repair. We perform complete refinishing and antique restoration. We travel all of Maryland, DC, and Virginia. We have done repairs for moving companies, cleaning companies, furniture stores and for some government facilities, as well as a long list of personal customers we have accumulated over the years. Keep in mind that when requesting a quote, it could vary once we are able to see the furniture due to the many different sizes, shapes, styles and condition of the furniture. Once a quote has been approved and accepted, we will be more than happy to contact the customer to find out more details. We love to repair/refinish the antique furniture that has been handed down through the family and make it usable and beautiful again.

We do a variety of work from restoring antiques to refinishing modern pieces. Other work that we do is regluing of furniture, rush seats, cane seats, upholstery, and wood repairs of all kinds. Being in the refinishing business for 22 years, I have seen and worked on a wide variety of pieces, and try to keep the customer as in the loop as possible when picking out a stain color and finish, so there are no surprises and the customer is pleased when we return the piece. We offer free in-home estimates, and free pick up and delivery within a 10-mile radius from our shop. Located in the Merrifield area, we are just a mile off the beltway, and are easy to find.
