We don't focus on training our "athletes" so that they loose weight. Instead, We believe that that's a positive "side-effect" of "weightlifting".
What is "weightlifting?
When we say weightlifting, we mean Olympic Weightlifting. Yes, the Olympic sport. In a broad sense, weightlifting is similar to compound exercise, or strength training. While you shouldn't expect to snatch, clean and jerk from the get-go, expect to train how to deadlift, squat, pull, push a weighted barbell. This may sound intimidating, however, with my programs and guidance you will see more effective progress than running on treadmills and curling biceps in front of a mirror.
On the other hand, weightlifting is not crossfitting. Expect heavy emphasis on techniques. Why? Without good foundations, you will reach your plateau quickly and will not progress.
What else?
Kettlebells. Track and Field. Bodyweight trainings. Mobility sessions. These will be our supplemental trainings tacked on to your weightlifting sessions.
How do we measure progress?
We tell our athletes not to worry about loosing weight. No weighing either. The only way to measure progress is by observing how your clothes fit (down the road) how you look in the mirror and how much weight you lift. All of our athletes are tasked to eat healthy (quality over quantity) and training consistently.
What does it mean to train consistently?
Train at least 3-4 times a week. Even if you were to train with us 1 - 2 a week, we can devise online programs for you to use on your own. For example, if we train on Mon and Fri, we will devise an online program so that you can train on your own on Wed. This is at no extra cost.
Workout Buddy
You can bring a workout buddy, at no cost on the days you train. We also hold boot camps on case by case basis.
Where do we train?
We can come to you, depending on several factors. We are located in Pentagon City. Also, we prefer that your gym has a squat rack and a barbell. If not, we can always alternate - once at your gym for a bodyweight training and another time at our gym for a weightlifting session. We can always find ways to make this work.
For instance, we have an athlete in Clarendon. We train at four different locations: her gym, our gym, at a nearby park, and then at a local High School track.
What should you expect ?
We bring a lot of enthusiasm to the table. We are very demanding in that we expect all of our athletes to show up on time and take our training programs seriously (less talking, eating properly before and after each session, and using personal cell phone during a session is prohibited). We also expect our athletes to do online training sessions because they are critical elements to their progress.

I have had an awesome experience with YJ. He is very knowledgeable. He mixes up the workouts so everyday is different. I feel great too! I would highly recommend his training.

YJ is an incredible trainer. He is very supportive but is also able to push you when needed. He also is a stickler for form. He typically has you try a new motion with no weight and then will continue to go up in weight until you reach the correct weight for you. He is genuinely concerned with how you feel about workouts, weights, and yourself. While he is incredibly busy he manages to check in on you each day regarding what you've eaten, and how you are recovering from the last workout. If you would like to put more emphasis on one workout he will adapt everything to suit your needs. Just give him your all and you will reep the benefits.

I am doing one on one training with YJ. Before I signed up, I was looking for a trainer who was knowledgable, personable, dedicated, and available. YJ is all of those and more. He is flexible with his schedulings and also provides workouts you can do in between sessions as well as on travel. He genuinely cares about your progress and takes the time to check in via text on your eating habits and personal well-being. He's friendly and always motivating you to work harder. He also keeps the workouts tough and diverse; switching from indoor to outdoor workouts. I highly recommend him for all of your fitness goals!!

I was depressed with my life and super unhappy with my body and lack of energy and zest for anything. Then a text messag...e saved my lifeI reached out to a friend who trains with YJ and asked her who she recommended and she put me in touch with YJ. We connected instantly! It was lift at first sight. No really, he made me lift on day 1. Its been a couple of weeks and I feel stronger and so much more powerful. He really pushes you to make positive choices and encourages you along the way. I am lucky enough to train with my best friend and it makes us push each other too. Its a great stress reliever and I feel like our relationship has also improved because of the training. Ive been pushed to new limits and have set new boundaries for myself that I never thought Id be able to do.
I cant wait to get healthier and to get stronger. Most of all, I cant wait to get into this teeny tiny gray dress that has been haunting me in my closet for the last 6 years. I tried it on last week and got it past my thighs. MY THIGHS ARE GOING AWAY AND TURNING INTO MUSCLE. Next step, get the zip up. I owe my life to YJ literally. I would not have been able to this alone. I recommend you only see YJ if you want to make your life betterhow do you say no to that? You cant. Get up, get moving, get strong and get healthy. Also I LOVE the fact that YJ wears neon clothing when you train. It makes it easy to spot him as a target when youre running across the parking lot and you feel like youre going to pass out.

Couldn't ask for a more dedicated, motivated and personalized trainer! His workouts and challenging, different and purpose built. If you're looking for an easy way out, do not recommend him but if you're looking for one hell of a transformation review... He's the one choice. Currently Squatting 235lbs,started from empty bar.
