PERSONAL TRAINING: I motivate through positive reinforcement, working with you to become better. I believe nutrition is key to any type of transformation and will give you ideas of how you can better structure your diet to meet your goals. Typically, I use high intensity circuit training and functional movement to make our workouts more efficient, burning the maximum amount of calories while building core strength and muscle tone. I've worked with clients who have lost over 100 lbs, as well as people trying to recover from various injuries, to highly athletic individuals looking to push themselves to new standards of fitness. I believe communication is key to any good relationship, and will work hard to keep you motivated and accountable, yet remain flexible to deal with the demands of real life. TRIATHLON/RUN COACHING: I was a former NCAA track and field finalist, and have 15+ years of experience competing in and coaching triathlon and running. Unlike most coaches who send you a cookie-cutter workout and the occasional email, I will first film your run gait and/or swim technique and based off that analysis, determine how best to approach your weaknesses. I can then give you the specific exercises and drills that YOU need to work on to improve, IN ADDITION to a custom training plan. I've coached all ability levels, from beginners looking to their first 5k, to Boston marathon runners, and multiple-time Ironman triathletes to the first-timer trying to complete a sprint tri. The best thing I enjoy about my job getting to interact with people of all different backgrounds with all different stories but with similar goals. My favorite part of the job is playing an active role in helping someone become stronger, overcome an injury, or loose weight, and do things they never thought they'd do before.

I have worked with Alan for over 4 years and couldn't ask for a better trainer and coach. I have successfully completed two half marathons where I PR'd both times and have completed multiple Ragnar races due to his coaching. He is the best running coach you could ever ask for. He is also an amazing personal trainer. I am in the best shape of my life thanks to him. He is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his clients success. He will help you reach your goals and more!

I began training with Alan after my second back surgery and I think of myself as a 'fixer-upper' client. I hoped to get stronger, prevent future surgeries, and minimize my daily pain. I could immediately tell Alan was far more knowledgable and thorough than any other trainer I had worked with. He listened carefully to my concerns and goals. He watched my form closely and helped me understand the anatomy and mechanics behind my problems. Those early workouts hardly deserved the name - I could barely walk and I needed assistance to balance on one leg. Still, Alan helped me begin to believe better things were coming. After nearly 3 years of working with Alan my back pain is just a memory; instead I get to enjoy the satisfying soreness of productive workouts. Alan has helped me exceed my goals far beyond what I dared hope. At 42 I have been surprised to discover a new and surprisingly athletic side of myself. It turns out life is just more fun with a strong and healthy body. I tell anyone who will listen that hiring Alan as a personal trainer has been one of the best decisions I ever made. One regret - I have no video of those first few sessions. I’d love to be able to show exactly how far he has helped me come.

I have trained with Alan for the past couple of years and absolutely love working with him! As of late, I am participated in a small personal training group. During these personal training sessions, he takes time to demonstrate exercises and to provide options for modifying exercises to meet the needs of individual group members. He is detailed and focused on insuring the safety and personal growth of each participant - taking time to observe group members in action, but also to clearly explain specific movements and expected outcomes for muscle groups, etc. Most important for me, though, is that getting up at 5:30 am for group training is motivating and really fun. I always walk away feeling that I am supported and encouraged to achieve my fitness goals. At other times, I have worked with Alan to prepare for triathlon. His training plans are easy to follow and specific to my needs, as he reviews my personal goals for each race prior to developing my training plan. I have also worked with him on nutrition and find him knowledgeable about fueling appropriate during my months of training, but also on race day. Overall, I find Alan to be extremely knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition and value the time he puts in to planning for a productive training session, or customizing a training plan that works for me. Can't say enough about TriFit's philosophy and working with Alan!

I started 2016 like anyone else: with big goals for myself regarding my weight and fitness. I found myself in a spot where I was completely unhappy with my body but I tried for the first few months to make the necessary changes on my own. By April I realized I hadn't made the progress I wanted, and I was still unsure of how to achieve my goals. I started training with Alan at the end of that month and have continued ever since. From day 1, Alan has made sure that I did not hurt myself while working with him, I learned from each of our workouts, and pushed me each and every session. I enjoy working with Alan for a variety of reasons. First, he never misses a scheduled appointment (if I'm spending my time and money, he better show up!). Second, every workout is different and fun. Third, my safety at all times is always Alan's upmost concern. Lastly, he knows when to push me out of my comfort zone in order to achieve the best results without being intimidating or condescending. Alan has also spent a great deal of time teaching me about proper nutrition and we take measurements every 6 weeks. 9 months later, I can say I have confidence in myself and my appearance thanks to his help. I have left every workout feeling satisfied and proud. I 100% recommend Alan to anyone looking to achieve their health, wellness, and fitness goals.
