After meeting Mr. Smoot in person and discussing what I wanted done, I felt confident I would be pleased with his work. Two men did the job. The one in charge was very knowledgeable about trees and was careful that he did exactly what I wanted. The young man with him did a good job too. He was careful not to cause damage with the stump remover, which was a large piece of equipment. I did not get another estimate, so cannot comment on the charge for the job.
John did most of our kitchen remodeling work for us. This was the first time we have done a project like this so we were sort of feeling our way. I would hire John again, though his helper, Jamie, was not as good. I think the qulity of work was generally good, but I wasn't there to watch most of it. Some smaller details looked like they could have been handled better, such as flatness/evenness of the floor, placement of electrical boxes, some of the edges where the new floor met the old floor or HVAC vents. John was always happy to change something for us, but of course it would cost more to make the change. When they initially installed the cabinets one section was about 3/4 of an inch misalligned with the existing wall. Apparently they didn't see anything wrong with that and went ahead and installed the cabinets. When I saw the result I thought we needed to fix it, which John did, but he charged us another $225 to do it. There are probably always unforeseen circumstances that arrise during construction, especially in remodeling, and sometimes John would figure out a good solution (one that we liked), but other times it would be not such a good solution and we might have wanted it done differently. So more communication at those times would have been nice. Overall we are pleased with the results. The new kitchen looks pretty good, though we're still only about 95% completed. We are still waiting for a few ordered items to arrive and John will be back to finish things off. John was good at telling us when he would be there and when he wouldn't. The project has gone on a little longer than we had hoped, about 8 weeks, but things kept on schedule pretty well and there were a few unexpected extras like replacing part of the ceiling and removing multiple old floors. It was pretty easy to work with John and he seems trustworthy. I think we are a bit overbudget, but we did add in some extra painting to the job. Knowing what I now know, I think the project would go more smoothly if we had to do it again. I think John also learned some things during this project. For example, I don't hink he had installed hardwood flooring before. I bet he would also be better at that if he had to do it again. John gets things done, but sometimes he should think ahead a few more steps and try to figure out if he's doing things the best way.
Needed to have a brick walkway installed in the back of my home to connect my basement entrance to my driveway. Paul was prompt and professional with scheduling and communication. This was during the 30 days of rain. Paul was excellent in keeping in touch and making sure I was aware he was monitoring the weather and would get to my path as soon as the ground was dry. True to his word the very day the ground had tried he had his crew on site to install my walkway. He installed exactly what I was looking for at a competitive price. I will definitely use Paul again for my landscaping and hardscaping needs.
I hired Anthony to remove a fallen tree and repair a fence that was damaged by the tree. We spoke over the weekend, and then Anthony was able to complete an estimate and the work on the same day (Monday). I will definitely look to Anthony when I have a project in the future!
Penn did more jobs than I can list here; sheetrock, front door replacement/upgrade, siding/trim repairs, chair rail install, baseboard upgrade, painting, lighting upgrade, deck upgrade, vintage furniture repair, reroute coaxial cables, install outlets, etc... The costs were so reasonable, I kept finding (and still am) projects to do. Penn and helpers worked within my scheduling parameters and worked well with the HOA painters which saved a lot of time and money.
Justin did a great job fixing a hole in my basement wall! He offered a fair price for the work, showed up on time and made excellent repairs to the wall! Then he painted with the paint I provided to finish everything up! I would definitely hire Justin again for other handyman work! Thanks Justin!
Charles Grandstaff is a knowledgeable, polite and pleasant person to have at your home to perform a needed service. He did an outstanding job of cleaning my two story home, privacy fencing, and outdoor building. The house looked new when he was finished. I really had not realized the previous shade of white was a little dim, but now my home looks whiter and brighter. I would recommend him to anyone. It is obvious that he has pride in his work that shows in the finished product.
James did fantastic work recently painting the exterior of my 3200 square foot home. He also did exceptional painting on the inside of my home. He was very detailed with walls, ceilings, trim, closets, laundry room and pantry. In addition, James changed my carpets, installed shelving and window blinds. Furthermore, he cleaned my gutters, did light landscaping and secured my damaged fence. Mr. Vincente was very professional at all times. He was punctual and organized. Furthermore, he always had a smile, a positive attitude and cordial demeanor. I will definitely be calling him for all my future fixes and repairs.
We hired Justin and his company to come out an install a fence for us. Their pricing was reasonable considering the intricate design my wife wanted. We had his company install a custom fence with vinyl posts and wood paneling. It looks absolutely wonderful. Nothing is perfect and he addressed every concern we had. We have never given a 5 star review but this individual earned everyone. Well done Justin and D&H!
Vernon Eppard has completed a number of projects in both of our homes: one in Virginia and the other in Texas. We have been so happy with every project and have recommended him to many friends over the years. His suggestions and recommendations were wonderful. In our Virginia home, he designed and built out the basement area adding three bedrooms, a full bathroom, a family room, a custom bar, and a back deck. In our Texas home, Mr. Eppard has made two separate trips to complete a number of projects for our family. He has converted our formal living room into an office with double French doors; converted our lofted library into a bedroom; ran crown molding throughout the entire second floor; removed original marble from foyer area and laid new ceramic tile; remodeled fireplace mantle and created hidden area behind mantle for all electrical cords for large-screen TV and entertainment system. Added additional kitchen cabinets, removed old florescent lighting, and created an inlaid ceiling lighting system. Mr. Eppard built a custom butcher-block island, replaced back splash and countertops throughout the kitchen. He built new board-on-board fence and added a screened in porch with access to pool. We highly recommend Vernon Eppard for all of your home improvement projects. He is an outstanding carpenter and the only one we will contract with to do our home improvements.
I have nothing but good things to say about this contractor/friend. I've found that one of the harder tests of friendship is doing business with them. In this case I have no regrets. In the past four years I have bought a home, had to move out of town and rent that home. Adams Home Renovations has helped with: Put up a new fence, installed a door, painted and prepared my rental property between tenants, repaired my eve and roof when I incurred wind damage. I have referred them to family members: For my father - replaced a barn door, put down new flooring on the sun porch, noticed some bad water damage and repaired the gutters and some supports. For my mother - put in a new door after her home got broken into. Went out of their way to get this done in a hurry. Remodeled a bathroom, painted and installed ceiling fans. For my Aunt - Touched up some mortar, put up a facade to hide some computer wires and exposed structural steel, and repaired concrete at the threshold at her garage door. There are several other jobs they have done, and I (and their clients) have been pleasantly by their work. I'll be frank, the people at Adams Home Renovations are friends of mine. I have had problems doing business with other friends in the past. But if I ever had a single problem with the work Adams Home Renovations have done for me, my friends and my family, I wouldn't keep recommending them for any job large or small.
Chris has been great to work with this season of lawn care. He was easy to communicate with, did a great job on our yard, was clean and efficient and his pricing was fair. We will certainly be using him again.
Jason helped finish up a botched fence installation another vendor did. He adjusted some fence panels, finished custom length ones to complete the project and installed 2 gates, while properly securing a third that was poorly installed. Quick work, great communication, fair and transparent pricing.
