John did most of our kitchen remodeling work for us. This was the first time we have done a project like this so we were sort of feeling our way. I would hire John again, though his helper, Jamie, was not as good. I think the qulity of work was generally good, but I wasn't there to watch most of it. Some smaller details looked like they could have been handled better, such as flatness/evenness of the floor, placement of electrical boxes, some of the edges where the new floor met the old floor or HVAC vents. John was always happy to change something for us, but of course it would cost more to make the change. When they initially installed the cabinets one section was about 3/4 of an inch misalligned with the existing wall. Apparently they didn't see anything wrong with that and went ahead and installed the cabinets. When I saw the result I thought we needed to fix it, which John did, but he charged us another $225 to do it. There are probably always unforeseen circumstances that arrise during construction, especially in remodeling, and sometimes John would figure out a good solution (one that we liked), but other times it would be not such a good solution and we might have wanted it done differently. So more communication at those times would have been nice. Overall we are pleased with the results. The new kitchen looks pretty good, though we're still only about 95% completed. We are still waiting for a few ordered items to arrive and John will be back to finish things off. John was good at telling us when he would be there and when he wouldn't. The project has gone on a little longer than we had hoped, about 8 weeks, but things kept on schedule pretty well and there were a few unexpected extras like replacing part of the ceiling and removing multiple old floors. It was pretty easy to work with John and he seems trustworthy. I think we are a bit overbudget, but we did add in some extra painting to the job. Knowing what I now know, I think the project would go more smoothly if we had to do it again. I think John also learned some things during this project. For example, I don't hink he had installed hardwood flooring before. I bet he would also be better at that if he had to do it again. John gets things done, but sometimes he should think ahead a few more steps and try to figure out if he's doing things the best way.
We did a full house remodeling with Alcon and the experience was beyond expectations. Perfect service, very tolerant and highly qualified team with reasonable prices compared to all the quotes we got through Thumbtack. The tiling of bathrooms came perfect, the painting and installation of flooring as well. Beto helped us with additional stuff and he was very kind and the work went awesome. I highly recommend Alcon for any remodeling. Would definitely hire them for any new job.
Wes and his dad did a fantastic job removing the aging wallpaper from our dining room and kitchen, adding some drywall to the ceiling in our powder room, and priming/prepping everything for paint. We are very pleased with the results and their hard work and already working on a list of other projects to get their help with.
After twenty years of searching for someone to remove wallpaper that was put up incorrectly, I came across Pinnacle Custom Painting. Gary came out to review the job and we immediately formed a bond and a trust. He said his team could do it. With trial and error, trying MANY ways to remove the paper, the seasoned father and son team decided on cutting out the seams, then pastering them, and painting over the dark, raised flowered, paper. With primer and three coats, the ugly paper was gone! What I have now is a room to be proud of, twenty years after my search began. I am grateful that Gary, and his father and son painters, Steve and Steven came into my life. Forever thankful to them and Thumbtack!
Everything about working with Ken Garr and crew has been great: exceptionally good pricing and reliability. I'd recommend him to anyone.
Mr Tinsley is a true professional. I had him paint the outside trim of my house, scrub the siding and gutters, treat the siding, and he found a roof leak I had and fixed it as well. He was always on time, and the craftsmanship of his work is outstanding. I am going to have him back soon to paint the inside of my house.
I hired Mr. Jett of RCJ Contracting to remove and dispose of some furniture from my home. With very little notice he arrived at my home exactly when he said he would. His team removed everything very quickly and professionally. When I discovered that he is a very experienced contractor, I asked him for a quote to tear down and rebuild an old shed. He gave me a very good quote and we plan on doing more business in the future.
Did a great job on the work could use work on cleaning up after there job
Mr. Adams has done work in my kitchen to finish it off with sanding the walls, painting them and laying the linoleum tile floor. It looks great and the floor idea is wonderful! The linoleum tile he suggested looks like real tile. I would highly recommend him. Mike Holmes quality of work at reasonable costs!!
Working with Nick May was very easy from start to finish. He came out on time for the inspection of our roof and gutters, gave a fair quote very quickly, and spent the next couple of days answering all of our questions. We signed the contract and Nick and his crew were able to start the next day! They replaced the entire roof that was in desperate need, took off the roof of a back porch, removed an old chimney no longer in use (which turned out to be complete concrete), and replaced gutters. He stayed in touch the whole process and let us know what was going on with the project. The end result was on time exactly the way they thought it would go and on budget. They even patched two small sections of stucco on the exterior near the new roofing so it would be all sealed up! I will definitely consider Charlottesville Roofing and Siding for future projects.
