Introduction: You will find me to be a laidback, easygoing and trustworthy house and pet sitter. I have years of experience as both a home owner and a pet owner, as well as considerable experience house/pet sitting throughout the mid-Atlantic area. I've been awarded the "Best of Thumbtack" award both years that I've used it (2015 & 2016), and have excellent reviews here. I truly care about the animals and homes placed in my care and am respectful, responsible and honest. House and pet sitting gives me the opportunity to spend time with other animals, and get to know new areas (whether it's here locally in Hampton Roads or in homes throughout the mid-Atlantic). As a pet owner myself, I enjoy offering other owners peace of mind when leaving their loved ones behind for an out-of-town trip. I know how important it is for me that my own kitty and, now, chickens (!) are safe and loved while I'm away, so I like that I can do that for other people, as well.

Megan is great! She cared for my two cats while I was on vacation, and proved to be reliable, caring, and trustworthy. She definitely has a way with animals. I adopted both cats from a shelter and they are often skittish around strangers, but they took to her right away. Megan was also kind enough to come out and meet me and the cats a few days prior to the job without asking for payment for the extra visit. She even texted me pictures and status updates while I was gone, to let me know my cats were healthy, happy, and getting plenty of attention. I wasn't expecting that, and it was reassuring to see that they were doing well. I will definitely hire Megan again, as well as recommend her to friends, for future pet-sitting needs.

Megan watched my dogs for almost three weeks and did a wonderful job. She stayed at my home and helped keep my dogs on their regular schedule and in their own environment. She sent me daily updates while I was away that made me feel much better about missing my two dogs. When I got home, the dogs seemed happy and calm. In addition, she took care of my saltwater aquarium, and even mowed my lawn. She really cares about her job. I would highly recommend her pet sitting services.

This was three cat and one house sitting. Returned after four nights to find the cats without any issues and totally indifferent to our return, a sign that they were each sufficiently indulged and taken care of in the way they would have liked while we were gone. House was more immaculate than when we left it. Megan is thoroughly professional and friendly. Finding her will allow us to do more traveling with more peace of mind, a problem solved.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A meet-and-greet is generally the first step, so that I can learn about you, your animals, their daily routine and any other important information, and so that you can learn about me and feel comfortable leaving your pets and home in my care. If it seems like a good fit, we'll get you on the schedule!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been trained in Pet CPR and First Aid, and plan to renew my certification in April 2015.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
For years, I have done house and pet-sitting, throughout the Mid-Atlantic, in exchange for accommodations. I love it so much, though, that I don't want to wait until I can travel to love on some other critters! So, I am doing it on the side locally.
