Clay Somers from Premier is highly recommended. He was punctual. He was thorough with the inspection. He went above and beyond to answer all questions asked. He is very knowledgeable. We received our report on the same day after the inspection. Most importantly, he was very accommodating. His flexibility allowed us to schedule our inspection at a later date.

A Premier HomeInspection provided a very detailed inspection report. The report provided numerous color photos of inspected areas, the electronic (pdf) version had hot links which allowed for easy navigation of the approximately 84 page report. I would definitely recommend them to others and use them again.

A Premier HomeInspection helped to provide us some peace of mind during our new construction process. Clay is quick to respond to any questions a client has and provides his inspection reports incredibly fast! We used his services for a pre-drywall inspection and a final inspection prior to closing. Each time he was able to identify deficiencies that needed to be corrected by our builder. We lived out of country for a majority of the build and it was awesome to feel like we had someone who had OUR best interest in mind. Five stars, we will absolutely recommend to future neighbors in need of a private inspector!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a military discount, because I feel that it’s important in my area as a retired service member. I also offer a first time home buyer discount!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve completed over 80 hours of initial training and 200 hours of on the job training just to get certified. Additionally, every year, I must complete 16 hours of continuing education just to maintain licensure requirements for the state of Virginia. In addition to these MINIMUM requirements, I take extra courses through the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors to stay sharp and continue to learn!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I spent 22 years in the Navy as a Hull Technician, we are responsible for making plumbing and structural repairs to every part of the ship. This is in addition to conducting various inspections on piping and welding production jobs, including high pressure steam valve replacements in the nuclear power plant. During my time in the Navy, I did home improvement projects for people which later turned into buying/fixing/selling properties. Thats what ultimately landed me in home inspections.
