Elizabeth is a great instructor! My sons transferred to a new school, and they were about a year behind in skill. She has helped them to catch up with their peers, and she is wonderful with kids. All of our lessons are via skype, and that has not posed a problem at all. She is so accommodating too! My boys tend to be forgetful and sometimes forget their music books, and she can adjust the lesson for those circumstances. I highly recommend her!

I studied with Charlie back in 1975. Since then I have played professionally for years touring several countries, doing extensive studio sessions and also teaching students myself. The rudimental studies and drumset applications I learned from Charlie have proven to be invaluable in my playing and a great foundation to build on. --Michael J. Smith

Felicity began with Nate as a new student. She has now been playing the flute for 3 years and has a tremendous passion for playing music. Nate has helped instill this passion by his patience and guidance during the years he worked with Felicity. She respects him as an instructor and feels she has a solid foundation due to his expertise and guidance. Additionally, Nate encouraged her desire to write music and taught her how to do this as well. I'd have no hesitation in recommending him as an instructor.

Cara is a calm and understanding teacher who really pays attention to the songs that I want to sing and my personal voice. She is patient and fun to work with. I like that she laughs when I tell a joke, or that she doesn't focus too much on me becoming a professional singer all in one lesson. She just wants me to keep improving. If you want someone laid back with a natural ability to make you want to sing, she's your girl.

Jan is an excellent piano teacher. She has the remarkable ability to assess each student's abilities, and devise a teaching plan to meet my needs and has encouraged me to keep up the good work and I have progressed so much when I thought it would be so much harder. She's also been wonderful to work around my hectic schedule driving many miles to my home and make changes whenever necessary. Thank you, Jan!

I would recommend Living Waters Music to anyone interested in vocal training. The instructor was friendly and competent with years of professional experience. The assistance I received for preparing auditions helped me explore my vocal potential, and I came away from my sessions with a lot more confidence.

Both of my children started piano with Destiney Kooiman and she not only ignited their passion for music but challenged them in ways they found fun. She is the most compassionate, dedicated and kind woman we have ever known and she became my children's teacher, mentor, confidante and friend. Their musical achievements under her tutelage were remarkable but even more than that she taught my kids the importance of giving back to the community.

Alexandra is an amazing musician who loves sharing her passion for music in a professional setting. With Alexandra, you will get so much more for your investment because of the depth and quality of her experience.

I provide a complete instruction for all string instruments, bowed and fretted. I also give a complete instruction in music theory. I work with live instrumental performance groups. Composition and arranging services are offered. Fees are $35.00 per half-hour lesson. You provide the materials. My goal is to provide each student with the necessary knowledge and skill set to enable them to perform either as a soloist in their home and perform as a member of an ensemble, such as a church, neighborhood bands, etc. I can get this done in a two-year period if the student is diligent with his/her practice routine.

I am a student at William and Mary studying linguistics and Spanish. I have been playing piano for 10 years and teaching lessons for 5. I have also played guitar for 5 years and taught lessons for 3. In addition, I have experience tutoring youth of all ages, from elementary school to high school. I would say Spanish is my specialty; my knowledge is extensive, especially instructing at the introductory level. I am a straight A student and am competent to tutor most subjects, but I also have particular previous experience in Algebra. Though I am skilled in presenting material from a textbook or workbook clearly along the format of the class, I also enjoy coming up with creative methods for teaching and tutoring and designing my own exercises.

I am a piano, cello and music theory teacher. I have a BA in Music (Cello Performance, Minor in Piano) earned from a music college in Russia. I am highly professional. Since 2010, my students participated in over 25 recitals and concerts at College of William and Mary, Crosswalk Community Church, King's Way Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Greenfield Senior Living, Patriot's Colony, and many other venues. My students also participated in The National Federation of Music Clubs for the last 4 years in a row. All of them received superior rating, and four of them already received Golden Cups. I have been judging piano solo events for the last 3 years. Our recent performing project was playing in the Bard's Market at the Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Three of my students did an exceptional job entertaining the audience by playing a classical piano repertoire. I also provide wedding/special occasion entertainment (cello, piano, and violin) as a trio, duet, solo in any combination.

We are Portsmouth's only music shop. We are a local, old-fashioned "mom and pop" shop.

I offer music instruction including piano, guitar, vocal, performance and music theory for all ages and levels of experience. I have flexible scheduling and reasonable fees. I provide the enthusiastic and professional instruction.

I can teach the drums, basic music programming, recording/engineering, drawing, and painting with acrylics. I normally work as a special education teacher.

I can give the best of both worlds in my music lessons by combining an intuitive, ear training based approach with a strong foundation in music theory. My hope is to teach my students the skills they need to keep growing as musicians long after their lessons cease.
