About

Acrylic painting lessons for two! I was very pleased that the owner was so accomodating to our needs. Both of us worked on the same basic picture, and the instructor was quite helpful. We think we're going to sign up for some more lessons!

About

I am a classically-trained artist and teacher. I am a professor at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC and a part-time instructor at the Art League of Alexandria, VA. I teach drawing, painting and sculpture. I also teach privately in my studio in Silver Spring, MD. I have been doing it all my life, so I have lots of experience with students of all levels, including absolute beginners. I am passionate about art, and I convey it to my students. I am also very interested in art history, so that plays a big role in how I teach. I use a lot of references and examples from other artists. I am serious about teaching, but I am also a friendly and open-minded person. I always try to create a good atmosphere in my class, so that students are not intimidated. I have a professionally equipped spacious studio at my house, where I teach private lessons.

About

I am offering art classes for children and teens, summer art camps, adult art workshops, and home-school classes. The complete class schedule is on the website. Teaching art is also a gift. I am a teacher who has over 18 years of teaching experience and provides the right environment for not only learning art, but the kind of learning of art which benefits other academics, and the kind of thinking which teaches life skills. The price range shown includes and is determined by whether it is a group class or private instruction. "My son (7 years old at the time) attended art classes provided by Lisa. She did a wonderful job working with my son who is an odd combination of being a very intelligent boy, but also one who has sensory integration dysfunction (which affects his behavior). Lisa's instruction not only provided a basis for new skills in various forms of art, but also helped him mature and develop teamwork and interpersonal skills." - Kevin Peterson

He has also exhibited with many noted musicians as the late Dizzey Gillespie and Nancy Wilson. Many of these jazz paintings now can be seen on the CDs of noted musicians Don Pullen (Random Thoughts), Bobby Watson (Post Motown Bop), Bill Saxton, and Blue Note Records. A documentary film of these works entitled, "The Jazz Painter" (Kiro Films) has recently been shown in Tokyo, Japan. One of his prints entitled, "Cottonfield Blues" is in the collection of the United States Library of Congress. His most recent exhibit, "the Chocolate Hip Hop" has been exhibited at the Lloyd Vann Galleries -- Chelsea and at the New York "Chocolate" Show and featured in articles in the Gannett Sunday News and Gotham Magazine, as well as a television feature on BET Nightly News. Michael's artwork has also been selected by the summer issue of American Vision (August/September '97) magazine as one of six American artists to be showcased in their annual "portfolio" of "artist to watch out for". Michael's work has also been published in American Artist (March '91) and many art other related publications. Michael has just completed his first book of his paintings about jazz and food entitled, "My Favorite Things". The book is a collection of quotations from art critics, jazz personalities, leaders in the culinary industry and more importantly, friends and people who enjoy his work. The quotes are a sensitive integration of words interspersed over his paintings, making for a perfect match of harmony of quotes and the power and magic of art. His most current series is entitled, "The Chocolate Hip Hop". It is this artist's journey into the generational world of hip hop using the wonders and sensational mood altering and mysteries and power of chocolate as a visual metaphor in design and visual consciousness.

About

Extreme Art Project provides art tutoring and art activities for events and birthday parties for kids! We are a kid-oriented group of people whose primary goal is for everyone to have a good time. We aren't afraid of making a mess and getting the kids involved. Having us at an event means that every kid in attendance gets to take something home with them to remember the event by. When tutoring, our goal is to teach and help students express themselves while learning about concepts and art history by bringing in elements of what they are learning in their other studies.
