I have a rescue puppy, and she's what we think a shepherd/hound mix. She's wonderful, extremely smart, and very affectionate. But, she's a puppy, and I'm hopelessly in love with her, so a lot of her negative behavior remains unfixed. She jumps, she begs for food, she pulls on the leash, she is very possessive of me to the point of aggression, and a whole host of other issues. So finally I reached out for a trainer, and from the start Ryan was my choice. Very polite and personable while organizing the training dates, and very informative during our lesson. It wasn't just training the puppy, it was training me as well, which I think is something everyone can benefit from. The same day after training, my friends all noticed a change in my dog and her responsiveness to my commands. She's still a work in progress, but she improves every day with what Ryan taught us. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a qualified and effective trainer!
My sister and I first approached PackFit in 2014 for help with our Chihuahua Mix – her name is Mandu – that we had adopted from the shelter. She was terrified of anything that moved and coped by barking. We tried different methods that other dog trainers offered to no avail. Ms. Kimberly is excellent with both dogs and people – her dedication to them is awe-inspiring. The time and effort she’ll put into making your life and your dog’s life better shows her passion to her cause: “training dogs, empowering people, and changing lives.” PackFit offers more than dog training; PackFit gives you a role model that will help you with your own issues – without you even noticing – so that your dog won’t feed off of those anxious and negative cues. Now, this doesn’t mean that Mandu and I are perfect after our in-home sessions with Ms. Kimberly. However, two years later, we’re still taking baby steps in the right direction. I miss Ms. Kimberly and her own pack ever since our in-home sessions ended but thanks to her, Mandu and I are slowly conquering our fears.
Jay of Canine Dominion is more than just the best dog trainer ever. Once you hire him, it's as if he's become a member of your family -- a really smart, experienced, savvy member of your family who's truly invested in the successful training of your dog. He stands behind his dog training 100% too -- willing to provide additional sessions if needed at no additional charge. Jay brings amazing skills plus integrity to boot. Now if only I could find an auto mechanic version of Jay. ;-)
Our chocolate lab puppy spent a 2-week boot camp with Wag Ur Tail Dog Training. Mike was really kind and attentive to CJ, even posting video updates for us to keep up with his progress. CJ came home with much better manners! We had tried taking him to a local pet store's weekly training but that is a waste of your money. If you have a really smart dog, it needs constant and consistent attention like Mike provides. He's very knowledgeable and top notch in our opinions. Craig and Sandra
Vicky went above and beyond to help me train our new dog and my family. To train our dog to be around d other dogs, she brought her own dogs to the training session! That really helped me and made a big difference! She was very responsive over emails throughout the session and responded to my questions/concerns over email within few hours. She adjusted the training to suit my specific needs. Will definitely recommend to friends.
Andrea came to my house to train my Dog, Loki. She was excellent! She observed his negative behaviors and gave me easy and EFFECTIVE ways to deflect his attention onto something more positive. We saw Andrea on Friday, 2/02/18 @ 9am and she was here for a hour. I've been using all of the techniques she taught me and although it's only been over 40 hours since she visited, Loki is already showing excellent improvement. She even called me back later Friday afternoon, to say she researched one of his more unusual behaviors and gave she gave me additional instructions for training Loki regarding this specific issue. I highly recommend Andrea from Belton Entertainment, she understands Dogs, what drives them and how to handle/control those behaviors. Good Luck!
I just got my first puppy and Dolores has been a huge help! She's very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. She's very punctual and she's always willing to help with any of my questions or concerns. I would highly recommend her!
I can't speak highly enough about Laura and Animal Paradise Pet Care and Sitting. My husband and I needed help working with and training our rescue pup, and from our initial contact with Laura, we were certain we made the right choice. After discussing our needs over the phone, we met in person to allow Laura to make her assessment and create a plan. Throughout our time working together, Laura was always quick to respond, flexible with scheduling training sessions, and displayed the utmost in professionalism. Laura effectively customized (and modified as needed) our pup's training needs, ensuring that everything requiring attention was properly addressed. Again, I can't say enough great things about Animal Paradise Pet Care and Sitting, and HIGHLY recommend you consider working with Laura before going elsewhere. (And this bit of advice is coming from someone who exhaustively researched dog trainers before choosing to work with Animal Paradise.)
Paws of Change was great for our puppy training! We did an in-home session, and our puppy knew about FIVE new tricks by the time she left. And over the course of our training he ended up learning NINE tricks total, how to properly walk on a leash, and was crate trained because of her training and the training tools she provided us. She taught her training on what was best for Oakley, and she used positive reinforcement to allow for better training. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to get their dog(s) of any age some training!
Dom was very professional and helpful. Besides walking, Butchy, he even taught him some better behavior!
Susie was excellent and did a great job of creating strategies to help our entire family including young children train our new puppy. She was easy to work with and was able to provide additional support to help socialize our puppy.
I just want to thank Sarka so much for helping us out with training our dog, Hnupka. We had a very difficult time coping with Hnupka before we decided to contact Sarka and ask her for her expert help. Sarka taught Hnupka basic obedience and helped him to socialize with other dogs, humans and daily busy city life. Sarka also showed us techniques on how to handle Hnupka ourselves, set his expectations, and build his respect for us in a humane and loving way so that he would obey. Hnupka is now a much more manageable part of our family. I would highly recommend Sarka as an obedience trainer. She loves dogs and they love her back. Linda
Merissa has helped me with the training of several of my dogs! Her knowledge of dog training and behavior are outstanding, and she has a way of presenting that knowledge that makes it interesting, relatable, and useful, no matter what topic or trick she's teaching. It's clear that she loves working with dogs and their people, and I can't recommend her highly enough.

I offer high-quality dog training and dog walking services to the DC Metro area. I work to strengthen the bond between owner and dog to create a harmonious relationship.
I teach dogs a new set of default behaviors and habits; establishing a new baseline that does not include their harmful, unwanted behaviors. My approach to dog training and rehabilitation is relatively simple; change a dog’s perspective and behaviors to empower the human-canine relationship. I focus my effort on four key areas which create the foundation required to make these life altering changes possible: Leadership, Structure, Clear Expectations, and Accountability.
I use exclusively positive methods to help dogs become the cherished family members we all want. I have had a great deal of success resolving problem behavior and keeping dogs in their forever homes.
