Zero Trace
I hired Zero Trace through Thumbtack for an approximately $20,000 backyard renovation. Before work began, we had multiple discussions about the design, and the contractor provided a sketch showing two separate paver areas, including a main patio larger than the pergola.
The estimate did not include patio dimensions. What was actually built did not match the sketch or our discussions. The main patio was extremely small and could barely accommodate one chair, while the pergola was placed on the grass instead of over a larger patio area.
When I raised the issue, I was told they completed what was listed in the estimate, even though the estimate did not clearly state the patio size and the completed layout was materially different from what had been discussed and drawn. I told them to stop work and leave before the project was finished, but they still charged me the full remaining balance.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. Anyone considering hiring them should require exact measurements, a scaled drawing, and every design detail in writing before accepting an estimate or allowing work to begin.
