Shawn Estes and Baudelaire Construction are about as close to the perfect contractor as you are going to find. My experience with a lot of contractors has been horrendous. A couple of them were decent, but not even the good ones cannot hold a candle to Shawn. I have never once felt compelled to write a review for any of them until now. As far as competence, Shawn is a 10 out of 10. The man can do it all and already has a lifetime of experience doing just about everything. Not knowing him at first, I started him off with some (relatively) easy jobs. Over time I have handed him progressively more complicated projects across just about every type of work imaginable and he has handled every single one with confidence and executed it to perfection. There has not been one job that came back anything less than excellent. I would trust him with literally any project in my house. His attention to detail is outstanding. He takes every job seriously and takes real pride in his work. He does not cut corners. He also goes through the process of cleaning up after himself, another rare quality. When I say he even takes pride in that, I am not exaggerating. I have seen this man on his hands and knees vacuuming work areas in my house for 30 minutes at the end of a long day of work just to make sure the area looks as good as it did when he arrived. Along with his skill it is these little things that make him stand out so much. He is also totally legitimate. He is fully licensed, has insurance, and everything is above board, which gives me complete peace of mind. His invoices are clearly written, thorough, and detailed. There are never surprises and never any games. His pricing is beyond fair. He is genuinely the best priced person I have found. Shawn makes it so you don’t have to make that difficult decision and you don’t have to sacrifice legitimacy or quality for a better price. He is also a fantastic communicator and will stay in touch as much as you need, through whatever method you prefer. He is clear, he is responsive, and he is honest to the core. He always does exactly what he says he is going to do. Shawn’s overall professionalism is unlike anyone’s I have ever seen in his industry. Beyond the work itself, Shawn is just a wonderful person. He is simply the best person I have found to do this type of work, period. He is kind, he is great with animals, and he is a devoted family man. He was so gracious with my own family that he let my 83 year old father watch him work and offered to explain what he was doing every step of the way. He has been nothing but kind to my entire family. He is also former military (he was in the Army for 6 years, I believe) and it shows. That work ethic and that integrity are clearly built into everything he does. I have gotten a lot of work done over the last few months and have gotten to know Shawn and I would not hesitate for a single second to have him working at my house while I was away and my wife and kids were home. That is how much confidence I have in his character. In my opinion, people like him are basically impossible to find. I will never use anyone else for work around my home if I can help it. I want to be clear that this is not a plant or a favor for a friend. I am receiving no discount or any other benefit for writing this. I am a truly satisfied customer and the quality of Shawn’s work made it so I proactively wrote this because he has done such fantastic work for me. I am happy to go into as much detail as anyone wants about the projects he has completed for me and to share photos of everything he has done for me. For obvious reasons I am not going to post my phone number online, but if you are considering hiring Shawn and would like to hear about him firsthand, just ask him for my number and I would be glad to talk with you. Hands down the best contractor I've ever had. I've had him come back for multiple projects. Not only is he the best quality of work, he's the best price!! I've gotten quotes from other contractors in the 10k range and he will be below that every time! I've been concerned the low prices meant lower quality and it's still astounding work! He is passionate about his work, and knows many on the market like to capitalize. He likes to get the job done, and make a difference! This is a very humble guy who cares about what he's doing. Very punctual, detail oriented, and knowledgeable. From the gravel in your driveway to the shingles on your roof, this man is your go to! I will be hiring him again for a big remodel; Bathtub replacement, new flooring on entire bottom floor, painting and drywall repair, pressure washing house, pool set up. He truly does it all!
