Ian Sullivan says, "I decided to join Invictus after chatting with John, learning about his background, and touring the gym space at Self Made Training Facility. The guy knows what he's talking about. His personal journey with back injury and weight gain is very relatable and you just need to take one look at him to see how amazing the results can be.I have never been comfortable or confident in a gym environment but John and SMTF are nothing like what you're used to. Every workout he takes time to explain how and why we're doing the sets we're doing. He has given me nutrition goals, we've done a body scan and will be tracking my changes as we continue to work - AND I'M ALREADY SEEING AND FEELING RESULTS! We're only through 5 or 6 sessions and I'm down 10 lbs. I swear it feels like I've known him for years. He is truly adaptable to whatever you need from him. We have a good time but he also kicks my butt when needed. If you want a motivated, knowledgeable, serious trainer who has your best interest at heart, Invictus is where its at.SMTF is HUGE. They have every piece of equipment known to man, and then some... There's even a boxing ring, kickboxing cage, CrossFit jungle gym, and open space for sled push/pulls and parachute sprints, not to mention the endless machines, benches, and cardio equipment. Even better than all the shiny, top-of-the-line equipment are all the super friendly faces that I see every time I go and the amazing trainers that are leading the way for their clients across many disciplines. I always feel welcome, like I have plenty of time and space to get my workout in, and like the equipment is well taken care of. I have never waited for a machine or a bench because of the plethora of options available at SMTF.I chose to lock in at the 3 month/24 session rate which is nothing if not a great deal. As this is my first time working with a personal trainer, I don't have anything to compare it to but I feel like the price was a steal for how good I already feel after 5 sessions. In summary: if you're serious about working out or getting in shape and you want help, you'd be stupid not to choose John with Invictus Personal Training. Your experience at Self Made Training Facility will change your life like it already has mine."See more

Luka S. says, "Sam is a true professional who lives and breathes what he teaches. I am beyond impressed by the depth of his knowledge and how much of an impact hiring a true professional can have. Just for context - I am a former NCAA soccer athlete, been working out my whole life and thought I was doing it well and doing it on high level after watching countless youtube videos and podcasts, from Dr Mike at Renesiassance periodization, to Athlean X, who is a PT and a hypertrophy guru. After first week of working with Sam, I see how much I was missing in my workouts, my mindset, and my commitment to heath. Just few small pointers made all the difference, like putting 10 lb plates on the ground and stepping my heals on them so I can get a deeper stretch under tension. How to plan meals and gym sessions with my other activities throughout the week so my energy is optimized and gains are maximized for the week. Everything makes total sense and is personalized to my lifestyle and my schedule. I can’t recommend Sam enough for the impact he had on my life in such a short time!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.
