I was looking for someone to provide a full move-out cleaning to include carpets. Lisa was very responsive and flexible when I changed the time around based on my landlord's schedule, which took a lot of pressure off of me. Her price to do the full cleaning for a three bedroom, two bathroom house (with pets) was very reasonable, and part of the reason I chose her over other services was because she had no issue with coming out to us in the country, and others wanted to charge me more. Lisa's daughter helped her do the cleaning and she and her family were just lovely. They paid attention to details, wiping vents, cleaning the windows, taking extra time on our dirty oven, and even found a few things we'd forgotten to pack. Our landlords were pleased too and we got back our whole deposit. Lisa did a great job. We were lucky to find them!

They came at right time. Took less than one hour to clean the house which was 2 bedroom and a hall. I was a little bit confused to pay 160 for a job less than 1 hr. But when I checked the carpet I was overwhelmed. The stains were all out which I never expected. Great job chemdry! I would contact them when ever I need carpet cleaning...

I had initially hired a different company to render carpet cleaning services at my residence/home office. They never showed. I contacted Ashley that evening and she was at my front door 1 day later! She arrived on time and briefed me on how she does her work and what to expect. It only took her about 3 hours and she was finished. My carpets looked great! They look even better after drying completely. She took her time and it definitely shows in her work. I plan on hiring her again when it’s time to have my carpets done in a few months.

Patrick was very professional and great with follow up. We just had new carpeting laid and work crew was very careful not to get paint on it as they painted the ceilings/walls/baseboards. The work crew were extremely friendly and courteous. The finished job is awesome! We would hire again and highly recommend them!!

Very professional. I was AMAZED at how clean he got my carpet! My carpet is only a year old, but the dirt extraction process by this company proved it was filthy. Totally different from ChemDry or Stanley Steamer. Much more deep cleaning in this process. Life long customer here!

Ron arrived early and looked over the carpet areas to be cleaned & assured me he could get out most of the stains. He did and even cleaned an area we had not planned on doing. The carpets look great, the cost was unbelievably low for such good work. I will use him again and I highly recommend his work.

I have used Perfect Clean twice now, both times with excellent results. My first experience was on the carpet in my condo which had multiple black stains from the previous tenants. Alex was able to make the carpet look brand new, and I regret I haven't used them sooner.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

      • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
      • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
      • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
      • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
      • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
