They removed a very large Maple tree and two fairly large Cedar trees. They arrived when they said they would, very professional, friendly group of guys, they raked up all of the debris and removed it. The yard looked excellent. I would highly recommend Lumberjack Tree Care, they will be the only tree service I will use and recommend in the future. The price was very reasonable. I am very pleased with their work.

Joshua and his crew did an amazing job for us!!! I interviewed 5 different landscapers before deciding upon Kober's and I'm so glad we did! He transformed our Manakin Sabot home by adding a beautiful stacked stone retaining wall, removing the existing material, replanting an island of ornamental plants that were dead, adding a new driveway border on a very lengthy driveway, and MORE! In fact, he put stacked stone on the back side, visible from the inside windows of our home, simply because he knew it would look better as we looked out. I'll update my post by adding photos once the extra plants I ordered from him come in this week. He was so punctual and even worked on the 4th of July to finish our job before the weekend, although we certainly didn't expect that. The job took a few days and every single day, they would clean up the driveway and yard so that everything looked neat and clean after they left, just to bring it all back out the next day. That's having pride in your services, as well as your client's property. We had scorching hot temps while the job was going on but that didn't phase them --I am just so impressed. If you are looking for a landscaper who will provide excellent service at a very fair price, please do yourself a favor and hire Kober's Landscaping. Sure glad we did!

They came the same day, were polite, and did exceptional work. I marveled at a professional who knows how to use a track loader. The tree never stood a chance, finished yard is clean and ready for grass to grow.

Rodney met me at my house the same day I first spoke to him and gave me a very quick and reasonable estimate. They were also able to come back and complete my job just a few days later, which was great. They did some weeding on my small patio, laid down rocks and mulch, laid some bricks to make a barrier and also took out a tree and bush that were creating problems. Everything went smoothly and I will definitely call them for anything I need in the future! Thanks!

My initial contact was for an estimate to prepare my flower beds for planting. Michael made contact with me in less than 24 hours to set up a time to come and look at the space. He was even willing to come on a Sunday and after looking at the space hearing the ideas for what my vision was, he made suggestions but ultimately left it up to me. Again, in less than 24 hrs. he emailed a quote and I was extremely pleased. My first year in my house I prepared one of three flower beds that I wanted planted. And after it's completion, I decided that although I loved the planning and planting, I absolutely hated the work involved in preparing the bed. Michael was a Godsend! He showed up bright and early, ready to work. The beds were stripped of grass, layered with topsoil, weed barrier and mulch. He is somewhat of a perfectionist (which is a plus in my book) and did not wrap up until I and he were both satisfied. Later that night we experienced heavy rain and wind in the area and Michael made contact to see how everything was holding up. I explained that a small portion of the stone wall in the bed had collapsed, his response was, "I'll be there in the morning to take care of it." By noon today he texted me pictures of where he had fixed the wall. From start to finish, Michael went above and beyond my expectations and even touched up my existing bed. I can't wait to begin my planting. I have big plans for my back yard and Michael is my go to guy to see my plans to fruition. Thank you Michael. You're awesome!

Nature's Grace was not only an incredible contractor but very competitive with their pricing. They gave me several different pricing options. The one we chose was to donate the wood from our trees to churches, to be given to members in need of heat in the winter. Ryan contacted the church and had people loading the wood while they were cutting it down. This not only helped the church members but it saved me $800.00 to go with this option. I've never had a contractor have such a passion for their work and helping others at the same time. I highly recommend Nature's Grace to anyone in need of tree work or landscaping. Now we can sleep well not worrying if our trees will fall into our house during a storm. Thank you for an excellent job.

We had called several companies to come out and see what we wanted done. No one BUT C & T Landscape called us back within a few hours, the others never called us back. We needed the routine grass cutting, but also had some tree trimming needs. We also had an issue in our parking lot, the curb stops had become very faded and hard to see. Tyler and Chris even pulled out the paint brushes to take care of the "small" things we needed help with. Bottom line, for the price and the service with a personal touch, no better company than C & T Landscaping for your yard needs in our opinion. Arrow Machine, Inc.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
