Our yard and flowerbeds look great after Palmyra lawn and garden tamed them. They also cleaned and repaired our covered gutters and downspouts. They even took time to show me how to take care of some of the plants myself.

Joshua and his crew did an amazing job for us!!! I interviewed 5 different landscapers before deciding upon Kober's and I'm so glad we did! He transformed our Manakin Sabot home by adding a beautiful stacked stone retaining wall, removing the existing material, replanting an island of ornamental plants that were dead, adding a new driveway border on a very lengthy driveway, and MORE! In fact, he put stacked stone on the back side, visible from the inside windows of our home, simply because he knew it would look better as we looked out. I'll update my post by adding photos once the extra plants I ordered from him come in this week. He was so punctual and even worked on the 4th of July to finish our job before the weekend, although we certainly didn't expect that. The job took a few days and every single day, they would clean up the driveway and yard so that everything looked neat and clean after they left, just to bring it all back out the next day. That's having pride in your services, as well as your client's property. We had scorching hot temps while the job was going on but that didn't phase them --I am just so impressed. If you are looking for a landscaper who will provide excellent service at a very fair price, please do yourself a favor and hire Kober's Landscaping. Sure glad we did!

My husband and I had been ripped of by a previous landscape company that did not complete the job, so we were very leery and suspicious. We decided to search once more for an ethical company when came across an advertisement of Garden of Eden Landscapes in our local paper; we set up a consultation for Michael to meet with us on our property. To make a long story sort, he arrived timely, had at least 5 references, pictures of previous jobs, and was very knowledgeable and patient with us. Needles to say, they landscaped our property and we couldn’t be happier. Michael’s company even went above and beyond by planting extra plantings at no extra cost to us – Not to forget, he warranties all plantings for a complete year. We could not be happier!

I had a great experience with Mr. Bishop. He's thorough, very efficient, and cost-effective. When relocating, he was very helpful in moving discard items. I'm also aware of his skill in securing sprinkler heads for the lawn, and building a retaining wall for a rock garden. G.B. Educator Evans, GA

After much rain and hot weather, my garden looked like a jungle. I hired Georgia to weed and basically clean it up. She did exactly what I wanted her to do, and not do. The only problem was I didn't have the edges of the flower beds clearly marked. My fault entirely. I would hire Georgia again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
