Introduction: How Therapeutic Massage Differs from Traditional Relaxation Massage
The goal of therapeutic massage is often to help alleviate acute or chronic muscular tension, whereas traditional massage is often geared toward relaxation. Therapeutic massage and relaxation massage provide excellent forms of overall stress relief, increased circulation of both blood and lymph, and a stronger immune system.
While I do offer both, and many other forms of massage therapy, I specialize in deep tissue and therapeutic massage. I only charge for the duration of your massage to accommodate for changes from session to session.
The Myth That A Good Therapeutic or Deep Tissue Massage Has to Hurt in Order to be Effective
This is a common misconception, and one that prevents many pain sufferers from realizing the physical and emotional benefits of therapeutic or deep tissue massage. Some individuals might find their session to be the most beneficial when some degree of pressure or intensity is felt, but you should never âÂÂsimply hurtâ during your session. Additionally, many individuals need a much lighter pressure to start, especially in cases where chronic muscular tension has been previously untreated.
