Andrea picks up my puppy, Yuki 3 times a week, as well as training once a week. She makes everything so easy, and I always feel so comfortable leaving my baby with her! She's even going to board my puppy at her home while I'm away on vacation. Thanks for everything Andrea!

Erika is my go-to person for dog training and dog sitting! I have two rescue dogs, both adopted at the age of two with no training. Needless to say I needed help badly! Now my pups sit and wait to go in and out of doors, and they will do most anything for a treat. It's also nice to be able to go out of town and not have to worry about my fur babies! She's the only one I trust with them (and also to stay at my home with them), and she sends me plenty of updates while I'm gone.

Paula has been working with my terrier mix for the last two years; on the average she walks him three times a week. Since she has been walking him, my dog is much more well-behaved when I walk him. Paula is extremely dependable and trustworthy. She is flexible as well by helping me in last minute situations when my work schedule unexpectedly changed. I can call or text her about any questions I may have. She has given dietary and treat recommendations. I highly recommend this outstanding lady for any pet-sitting, walking or training needs. Megan watched my dogs for almost three weeks and did a wonderful job. She stayed at my home and helped keep my dogs on their regular schedule and in their own environment. She sent me daily updates while I was away that made me feel much better about missing my two dogs. When I got home, the dogs seemed happy and calm. In addition, she took care of my saltwater aquarium, and even mowed my lawn. She really cares about her job. I would highly recommend her pet sitting services.

Have not used her services as yet but she was very responsive to my questions and I feel very comfortable with her as she seems quiet compassionate.. We have set up a meet and greet to get to know each other and this also eases my anxieties.. I'm looking forward to meeting with her and hopefully a long relationship with the cat / pet sitting services she offers.

Stephanie was fantastic with my dog Adi. She clearly knew what she was doing and she was more than happy to answer all of my questions. Training a dog is more than the pet it is so much about the owner and how they behave and she helped me to understand that. I would recommend her to everyone I know with a dog.

Dawn has provided pet sitting services for me for over 6 years. I am very pleased with her services and recommend her highly. I have a large number of animals - feral cats, indoor and outdoor cats and dogs with different diets, meds and needs which she willingly and competently accommodated. I am happy to provide a reference to potential customers.

A special thank you to Lita who, not only sent us multiple pictures a day, but also gave our pup the extra attention he needed. Thank you SO much Paw Addicts Pet Care Services!

Truthfully, I am 19 years old, and I enjoy helping and exploring new things. I love to clean, massage, and pet sit. I am someone whom you can rely on getting the job done, and I'm always on time when you need me.

I was raised with dogs all my life. I love dogs. They're sweet, kind, and very understanding. I love and enjoy dog sitting. I have a Jack Russell, and he has a bad heart. He's old, and I got him from SPCA. He's always laid-back. I can walk, play, and even love to talk to dogs. I show them lots of love. This is my first time to look for dog sitting jobs, and I know I will enjoy it. Thank you. -- Francine

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
