Julie was very professional from planning to execution. Great communication before the event. This was a present to my husband for Christmas. A private cooking class for 2 in our home. Julie taught and served a fabulous flavorful 5 course Indian meal. We will definitely do this again! She brought all ingredients. She used our cookware and gadgets so we could reproduce the meal without feeling we had to buy any new kitchenware. So happy!

The food was off the chain! I hired Charlotte's to cater my mother's 60th birthday party and the food prepared was a hit. We did a tasting beforehand and food was adjusted to my likings for the party. Everyone raved about the food's flavor for months afterward!

Jennel has cooked for me many times and I would describe the experience as nothing short of outstanding each and every time. Jennel has a wonderful flair with food and not only does it always taste amazing and is seasoned to perfection, but every dish is visually stunning and a piece of art unto itself. Jennel is extremely gracious, hyper organized and my kitchen was left spotless every time she worked her magic. I would highly recommend Jennel for any occasion and look forward to the next time I can have her back to cook for my next event.

Chef Tim came to my house and taught my 13 yr old daughter (and myself, my mother and sister in law) how to make homemade pasta and chicken piccata. He was patient, gave great tips and made the whole experience wonderful.

Just imagine having a head chef show up in your kitchen, what a treat. My wife and I were looking for something different and exciting for our anniversary. We knew exactly what we were looking for; delicious food, special treatment and a high level of service. We obtained the services of a premier personal chef. My wife and I had a wonderful evening at home thanks to Chef Gray. He brought all the food and ingredients, all the pots, pans and cooking utensils, beautiful table setting and glassware. Chef Gray took over my kitchen and prepared us a wonderful three course meal. He was the shining example of a highly trained professional chef. He transformed our dining room into a "Five Star Restaurant" with his personalized and attentive service. Chef Gray is a great listener and takes your dietary restrictions into consideration to customize your meal. He took care of everything, assisted with the menu, cooked for us, provided exceptional service and cleaned up the entire kitchen. Thank you Chef Gray for making our anniversary so uniquely special.

We loved having Kathi's help with our evening meals while my husband was deployed. She helped make our meal plans and organize the grocery needs, she prepped and cooked all meals from start to finish and left my kitchen spotless. She even modified her dishes to meet my vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. She helped us find kid-friendly meal ideas and always made sure they were healthy and varied. We enjoyed all the food she prepared for us and already miss her very much!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
