Larry H says, "This is a detailed 5 Star review for Rescue Air Heating and Air Conditioning. First the background in January & February our Electric bill skyrocketed. We knew our 17 year old HVAC system was getting old and suspected it needed to be replaced. In early March our previous AC company confirmed that several serious issues existed and they suggested some major repairs ($$$) with no guarantees. They then verbally quoted 2 system replacement choices but gave no written quote with details spelled out. The diagnostics did confirm that our system was running on the Electric Coils only causing our electric bill to jumpsignificantly.I immediately went on Yelp and requested suggestions for HVAC contractors. They gave me four companies, all of which I contacted asking for quotes. Joseph from Rescue Air was the first to respond and set up an in person appointment at my home that same day. Joseph was extremely knowledgeable and veryhelpful explaining HVAC systems, cubic feet of air movement, filter thickness, and many other aspects of heating and cooling.I was impressed and much better educated at that point. As for the other 3 contractors that Yelp recommended they all had major issues. One was a big company that down playedcertain brands ( a committed distributor to one brand) and their quotes listed all sorts of extras (unnecessary) and their prices were the highest of all ( salespeople probably work on commission). The 2nd company had their Van broken downthe first day and missed their appointment the next day. The 3rd company finally contacted me on day 2 and setup an appointment for day 3. He swore he could fix my system for less money only to find out the coil he needed was expensive and16 weeks away plus freight. I asked him for a system replacement quote, he punched up some numbers on his calculator and quoted them to me. I asked for written detailed quotes and he said "Written quotes take over 30 minutes to complete and I only write them up after a commitment from thecustomer and besides I have already spent $34 for the Yelp lead."Needless to say, I continued my research of HVAC companiesand none seemed a good fit other than Rescue Air.I contacted Joseph on Thursday March 5th that he had been chosen out of 8 companies and 11 quotes. A complete newsystem was installed on Friday March 6th and then charged, tested and turned on Saturday March 7th.I got my latest electric bill on March 19th , which only covered12 days with the new HVAC and my bill was 46% lower than theprevious month. I can't wait to see the bill on April 19th with a full month of the HVAC being reflected.Rescue Air's crew of Jordan, Jason and Christopher werevery respectful and conscientious and I can't say enough aboutJoseph and the team behind his company.Trust all the homework I did, and choose Rescue Air Heating and Cooling for your HVAC needs. You won't go wrong.*****"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

There are a number of different appliances that professionals can install for you, including:

  • Washers and dryers. These machines are heavy and very sensitive to being level and balanced, and also require hookups to water, electricity and sometimes gas or propane.
  • Cooking ranges. Your range may use propane or gas, which is a hookup job best left to the pros.
  • Microwaves. You may want to have your microwave be an undermount or in-mounted unit, which a pro can install and make it look seamless.
  • Refrigerators. These are heavy and often require a water hookup.
  • And more!

Reach out to an appliance installation service, and find out if they can install your appliance. Often, it’s helpful to provide the brand and model of the appliance you’re trying to set up.

There are several perks to having a professional install your appliances, including:

  • Hiring a pro saves you time and money. If it breaks down, the service person who sold and installed the machine can fulfill its warranty. However, this warranty could be void if you install it incorrectly.
  • It will work reliably. Many appliances like ranges and laundry machines rely on being on level surfaces as well as having potentially dangerous hookups installed correctly.
  • You can get repair and maintenance support. If something isn’t working or you want advice, you can call up your installer and ask if they can help you troubleshoot or repair it.

Installing a new appliance costs $125, on average. However, homeowners should expect to pay within the range of $120 to $150.

For less complex appliance installations, you may pay a low-end cost ranging between $65 and $100. On the other hand, more complex appliances like laundry machines, ranges and other items can cost between $175 and $326 to install. Ask whichever appliance installation service you hire to give you a price quote, if possible.

You can tip appliance installers if you feel their service has gone above and beyond. A standard tip is between $10 and $20.

Reasons you might consider tipping include a very pleasant customer service demeanor, having to carry a heavy appliance up or down the stairs, working in inclement weather, taking care not to make a mess and other acts of care and consideration. You are not obligated to leave a tip — but one is always appreciated.

To find an appliance installer near you, start searching on Thumbtack. This way, you see a list of nearby pros offering services and compare based on their customer review, ratings and profile pages. You can also find customer-uploaded photos showing pictures of the pro’s work.

Check for licensing requirements in your state, and make sure whoever you work with abides by them. Finally, contact several different pros to compare their rates.
