Jewlie is awesome! I have two cats: one is old, cranky and hates visitors and the other is diabetic requiring insulin shots twice a day. I needed a pet sitter with veterinary/medical knowledge who is comfortable giving shots and knows the symptoms of hypoglycemia in case my diabetic cat's condition changes. My veterinary referred me to Jewlie and I've been forever grateful. Jewlie sends me pictures and updates when she visits them which eases my guilt for leaving them on a long trip. She's reliable, professional and I would refer her to any of my friends in a heartbeat if they were looking for a pet sitter.

We needed a petsitter to stay with our dogs and cat for a long weekend and Ann was recommended by another sitter. She responded quickly to my email. We were able to meet the next week and we hired her. She took wonderful care of our pets and we appreciated the daily updates with photos. I wouldn't hesitate to hire her again.

It's obvious CeCe loves dogs and made sure ours was treated like one of her own. This was what we were looking for. Didn't want our pet in some doggie prison.

Laura really came in for my family. I had five pet sitters cancel and I contacted Laura within one or two days of our weekend departure. She got back to me quickly and was available for communication whenever I reached out. She stayed at our home with our senior dog and two cats. The animals were well cared for and I felt safe with her in our home. Thank you Laura!

She is very focused on getting the rider to ride with a balanced and independent seat- an essential for safe and elegant riding. Which was quite a challenge for me as I am 50 and haven't been on a horse for years... And I have pretty severe nostagmous. I am very happy I took from her.

Marnie is a person of high moral integrity, is honest, dependable and very loving. She loves animals and has two pets who are her children. She has rescued homeless pets, seen to their medical treatments and found forever homes for them as she could. I've walked my vacationing friend's dog, Murphy with Marnie and her dog, Poochie on many occasions and Murphy loved Marnie. And Marnie has cared for other pet's and is the ideal pet sitter.

This was our first time with a pet sitter. We was really worried. Brandie reassured us and kept her word of sending pictures of our animals-even the lizard-to us every day. We are very impressed and will definitely use her again!

9/21/2013 Our daughter has been at Brackenhollow Stables for close to 7 years now. We travel 35 minutes for her weekly or twice weekly lesson and our daughter has grown in her riding and love of horses all along the way. We love Brackenhollow -- Joanna has always challenged our daughter but always in a safe way. The horses are treated with respect and never handled roughly which is not easy to find. Thanks to Joanna and Duschka for the years of outings (thanks Duschka), Pony Club lessons (thanks again Duschka) and many years of attention in lessons and our growth in horse knowledge (thanks to both Joanna and Duschka)!!! I had a previous bad experience with another cat sitter, and I was nervous about hiring someone new. This company has completely Relieved any of those worries that I had from my previous bad experience. Colleen showed up to my house on the first day for the meet and greet with a contract and an outline of what I expect and what she can expect from the service. She is extremely professional, kind and understanding. Not only did she look after my for babies, but she took very good care of my home. Going on vacation from here on out and leaving my cats alone will not be a huge worry some stress factor any longer due to this awesome and professional Company. Thank you thank you thank you.

While visiting “Paddywhack” pet store I stumbled upon a business card for Nanny Dolittle. I’d been looking for a pet-sitter or someone who can drop in on a long work day and tend to my pack. Some time went by and we adopted a fourth rescue dog. Adjustment periods for the dogs can take some time and extra tending to, so I decided to call the Nanny. We met, reviewed each dog in depth, my expectations for her visits, their expectations and then we created a visitation schedule on the spot. She left with a key to our home and has been coming regularly for over a year. Nanny Dolittle provides loving care to my dogs that desire it most and endless ball throwing for the other two. She knows exactly what each one needs and intuitively reads them when she visits. I know this because she leaves a note at the end of her visit that describes her stay and interactions with them. What she writes is exactly what we would have done for them had we been home. In addition, we notice the difference in their energy, happiness and general well-being on the days the Nanny has visited. She is reliable, flexible, trustworthy, accommodating, gentle, caring and provides exactly what she promises. We feel lucky to have her in our pack and the dogs are always excited when we leave for work with the parting words, “The Nanny will be visiting with you today, just rest until her arrival.” Rachael Millikan Beyond Barking Animal Communication www.beyondbarking.com

Great house sitter! Not only was the house greatly looked after she also looked after my two precious dogs! And they are quite high maintenance puppies! One has aggression issues towards other dogs and they still got daily walks with no issues. House was spotless when we returned, mail collected, A++++ service! :-)

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

      • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
      • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
        • 45-minute visit: $28.
        • 60-minute visit: $32.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
      • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
        • 12 hours: $100.
        • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
