Julia did a phenomenal job shooting our wedding--the photos turned out even more beautiful than we had hoped, and she was truly a joy to work with. She was very flexible, patient with my crazy family during family photos, she made sure to capture the whole list of photos that we requested, while also using her photographic eye to suggest good locations for lighting etc, and taking great shots that we didn't include on the list. When we took the photos of just the two of us, she put us immediately at ease, and got really great, natural-looking shots of us that we will always love. We chose Julia to photograph our wedding specifically for her photographic style--she captures real emotion in her photos, and looking back at the pictures we vividly remember the moments. The colors are vibrant and there is energy in each image. Many thanks, Julia!!

Julia was outstanding! She is the best photographer I have ever had! I had a huge wedding party, which usually makes things very hectic, but it wasn't thanks to julia and she did great with making sure we got pictures with everyone in our wedding party. I loved her high energy and her ideas for different posse's in the pictures. Most of all I just love the photos she was able to capture on my magical day and loved how fast she got the pictures to me! It took her less than a week to send them all to me. I would definitely hire Julia again!

Working with Julia was a dream come true, and we're so very happy to have met her! Being new to this area of the world, I didn't know what to expect or what to look for in a photographer. Those fears and uncertainties washed away quickly--everything Julia did for us was above-and-beyond, in my opinion. From an evening meeting at a Barnes & Noble Starbucks to get to know us, to shooting my best friends and I as we got ready, to walking down shaky docks and into the forest on our wedding day, Julia and Alexandra were fun, hilarious, intuitive and creative. They arrived on time, with positivity and light to share with everyone; had great ideas about what would make the most nicely composed shots; chased the best light; gave perfect direction; wrangled our crazy families. They were fluid and flexible, and totally engaged throughout the day's celebrations. Our families thought they were our friends--which now, of course, they are! If you are looking for total acceptance, professionalism, talent and someone to showcase how very unique you and your loved ones are, you need Julia. I can't wait to see how our story is told through these photos, and I'm already looking forward to an excuse to book a new project! When my Husband and I found Julia via Thumbtack, we immediately had the sense that she was someone we would love to work with. We loved the life, laughter and light in all of her images and we thought that her authentic approach to photography was refreshing and inspiring. Clearly, we could see that we was talented and lovely. But our first impressions were outdone by our amazing experience in person. Julia is a uniquely understanding and calming presence. Amidst the anxiety and stress of the day (which came not from the act of marrying each other but instead from the sheer audacity of hosting a destination event for 200 people when you are the center of it all) Julia was ever calm, ever present and ever pleasant. She was the most non-judgemental and easy-going person to have there possible. She made her work look easy even though it most certainly is not. She made us feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. Even when we were taking portraits before the ceremony began, it was as if we were just being ourselves - having fun, spending time with each other. And she happened to be there documenting that. But nothing was forced. On top of that, she has an incredible eye for color, texture, composition, balance, juxtaposition, light, angle and balance. She not only took beautiful portraits of us and our families, but she also managed to capture all of the details that we had put so much effort into such as the flowers, the decorative elements, the scenery and more. Above all, we are grateful to her for immortalizing the all of the candid moments of love, joy and emotion that happened with so much style and beauty. We loved spending that day with her, because she was wonderful, but she gave us the even greater gift of these images that we get to keep forever. We absolutely love them - they are better (richer, more nuanced, more beautiful, more true to us) than we could have ever imagined. We have shared the images with a wide circle of family and friends and so many people have said that they have never seen such beautiful pictures. They love they way her images make them feel as if they were there (if they weren't) and as if they are there again (if they were). They think that she brought out the beauty and individual spirit of all those there and as if she was able to capture our essence in photos. And we feel the same way! From our first meeting to the moment we received our pictures, she treated us as people she cared about, not just as clients. We would recommend Julia to all not only as a talented professional who will exceed your expectations, but also as a wonderful person to be around (in general but especially on an important day such as your wedding)!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm involved with a number of online photographers communities and am pursuing a degree in commercial photography.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I primarily shoot couples and families, weddings, engagements, boudoir, and senior photos. My career started out solely shooting actor headshots and model tests, and I've expanded my point of view from there over the last four years.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I'm one of the most down to earth people you will ever meet. I love hearing the stories that my clients have to share about their backgrounds, their ambitions, and where they're at in their journeys.
