Ian did an amazing job at my sister's backyard wedding! He narrated the wedding with music from guest arriving to the "walk down the aisle" to cocktail hour to dinner to rocking the house with dance music and made all the announcements plus had the mic ready for all the speeches! We definitely recommend Ian!

Booked Ian as our DJ & MC for our wedding. However our experience was terrible.
He can be unresponsive sometimes and take days to respond. His speakers were decent size but the mics kept cutting out when the speeches were delivered. According to him, it was due to the videographer's recording mic, which is understandable. However the outcome did not change: interrupted speeches.
We had 2 calls prior to the wedding day and we've informed him the processional starting song and grand entrance song, and told him to play the rest of the playlist for the ceremony, including recessional. However when it's time for the recession, there was NO music played. Me and my partner was left at the altar feeling awkward and embarrassed. So the recession did not happen. We're not sure what was not clear to him. I'm so baffled.
Throughout the wedding, Ian had a few more beers than we feel is appropriate. The way he presented himself did not feel professional and he feels like one of our guests at the wedding.
In terms of his MC service, there was none. He's made a couple of announcements as indicated, but that's it. When it's time for speeches and toasts, he made no introduction to my speakers, said nothing during the transition from one speaker to another, leaving them pretty confused.
During cake cutting, he said nothing else throughout the cake cutting process besides trying to gather everyone. Even for that, he's made more than two announcements and he barely able to control the crowd to get them seated. The cake cutting was so quiet, not even music was played, and left us feeling extremely awkward and dry. I had to save the scene myself by taking the microphone and start my thank you speech.
Apparently Ian had a totally different understanding of the level of MC involvement we're looking for, when we were being extremely clear before working with him that we're both shy and introverted, and need someone who can fill in awkward silences, hype up the crowd, etc. He should have spoken up if he cannot fulfill what we're looking for, instead of agreeing and telling us he could do it.
Please do not offer MC service if you can't do it. Nobody needs someone who just makes announcements, we can easily have someone to do it... We're extremely regret hiring Ian as our DJ/MC for one of the most important day in our lives. I'm sorry to say that even though he's friendly and may be a great musician, but not as DJ/MC for weddings.
I've never given any vendor/professional a one-star review, but this is just such an awful and traumatic experience for us that I feel like I must say what had happened. Though I appreciate that he said he's reflected on what happened and has taken in the feedback.
