We recently hired Polo and his team for a landscaping project in our backyard, and we're very happy with the results! To start with the positives: Polo’s pricing was competitive compared to other quotes we received for the same scope of work. He was clear about costs, confirmed material choices with us before purchasing, and even brought in extra sod and mulch at the end to give our yard a final uplift — which we really appreciated. The quality of materials used, including items not specifically listed in the contract, was excellent. We were especially impressed with the pergola paver installation — the pavers are perfectly sloped for drainage, and the finished look exceeded our expectations. His crew also did a great job cleaning up after the work and often went above and beyond. A couple of examples that stood out: when a heavy item was delivered to our driveway, Polo offered to help move it to its final spot, freeing up space; and his workers thoughtfully installed leftover metal edging in an area that benefitted from the addition. These thoughtful touches really made a difference. The team was respectful, hardworking, and committed to getting the job done right. While communication with the crew required some effort due to a language barrier, we were able to work through it. Polo himself was not usually on-site, but he gave instructions to his team and was responsive when needed. The workers were super receptive to feedback as well and they were willing to get things right. My favorite crew member from Polo's team was Jonathan! He would help with translations. He would oversee his work and the others on the site. We could trust Jonathan with everything. There were a few challenges as well: While the initial timeline Polo gave us was 2 weeks, the project ultimately took about 5 weeks. Some of this delay was due to material delivery issues, partly because materials were ordered late only after the initial 50% payment was made when work started. We also felt that the sequencing of work could have been better — for example, doing electrical or irrigation work before laying pavers or edging would have helped avoid some rework. Overall, we enjoyed working with Polo and appreciated his responsiveness and quality of the work. We'd definitely consider hiring him again for future projects! Great work from Polo and his team. They installed permeable pavers, non-permeable pavers, did the sod for the back yard and front yard and a gravel walkway. Everything was done as promised and communication was good throughout the process. Polo’s brother also did a nice job with the fence around the house.
