Cello Lessons (for adults)

I am an adult cello "learner". I've wanted to begin lessons and decide to take the plunge. Nathan was able to introduce the instrument and basics during our initial lesson. He also was able to help find a rental; seems there was a run on them in Seattle! Personable and knowledgeable, and affordable, I'm very excited to begin my musical journey.

Cello Lessons (for adults)

Natalie is an energetic, fun, seasoned musician that has already clearly demonstrated a passion for teaching with me in the first few lessons. Excited to be learning with her!

Kimmy is an excellent teacher. My daughter, Emma, really enjoys her lessons. Kimmy is energetic, professional and collaborative. She listens to Emma, challenges her and makes it fun. Great energy, too!

I decided to pick up my violin again this summer after a break from it for many years. I was referred to Kimmy by a coworker of mine who is also an excellent violinist. I had about five weekly lessons with Kimmy so far, and I have been loving our time together. Kimmy is really enthusiastic and easy to get along with. She always tries to make the learning experience fun and entertaining for me, which is what I appreciate the most and keeps me motivated to cope through the uncomfortable stage after no playing violin for so long. She is also very active in the music community, and always refer me to different resources for more practice and fun outside the lessons. She is very accommodating and her studio has really nice view and setting :)

Im provided with private violin lessons and I feel really grateful to have Kimmy as a teacher. She really relates to you on a level seldom teachers do. She's very supportive and laid back yet pushes you to improve too. No complaints! :)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We offer enrollment by term, school year, or full year! For a full list of our pricing, please visit our website. Enrollment includes the cost of participating in all of our classes and performances, as well as piano accompanist fees for relevant performances.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Before enrolling for the year or term’s lessons, sign-up for a consultation lesson to see if we’re the right fit! Consultation lessons are $35 and last 30 minutes. Consultations consist of a short interview where your teacher will ask you about your goals and expectations for learning your instrument. Your teacher will also discuss with you their expectations for their students such as how much to practise and whether you will be expected to take part in JMS activities. Beginners are not required to bring an instrument to their consultation lesson. However, your lesson will then consist of the interview portion as well as teacher demonstrations of their instrument. Teachers do not have instruments for students to borrow. If you have questions about where to rent or buy an instrument, please ask your teacher and they will be more than happy to give you suggestions! Do not buy instruments off of Amazon, please!! If you have already been playing, please bring your instrument. You will be asked to play a scale as well as a bit of something you’re currently working on. This could be school orchestra music, youth orchestra music, or solo music if you’re moving from another teacher. To schedule a consultation lesson with the teacher of your choice, please get in touch! Our director, Kimmy, can also recommend someone to you if you aren’t sure which teacher might be the best match! Once you’ve had your consultation lesson, if you and your teacher would like to continue, we’ll get you enrolled based on your preference for term, school year, or full year tuition payment. After that, you’re all set and ready to take lessons with your teacher and take part in our other offerings!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All of our teachers are professional musicians who earned their degrees from schools such as the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Royal College of Music in London, Central Washington University, University of Texas at Austin, and Brown University!
