I have seen the work he has done for others over the years, concert risers for my church, an Adirondack 3 season room addition for a friend, as well as several other projects. His work is always excellent. I hired him to build a wall cabinet for my new home to store wine and hang stemware. I am very pleased with the result.

My dishwasher leaked requiring a full kitchen remodel. Anthony negotiated with my insurance company to get me a higher amount in order to recreate a better quality kitchen. He patiently walked me through each step, was always quick to respond with answers to my questions, helped me create new possibilities for the redesign, and has offered suggestions along the way for a quality kitchen at a very reasonable price. He is professional, courteous and kind, is easy going and easy to work with. He has been involved with each phase from the cabinet installation, counter tops, flooring and cabinet finish work. My kitchen is looking great. I intend to use him in the near future for my laundry room remodel.

These guys are great. Very professional and they do outstanding work. They painted my cabinets and did a beautiful job. They are also very conscientious of protecting your home to prevent paint from getting on other surfaces. I will definitely hire them again.

Todd did an incredible job creating the exact fencing solution we were envisioning in a tricky, tight space on the side of our house. His craftsmanship was impeccable- it absolutely exceeded our expectations. He gave accurate estimates for when he could start and when he could finish, and he maintained a clean job site through to the end. Todd was a timely communicator and a pleasure to work with- highly recommended.

Derek arrived on time to install a toilet valve. He was very polite, detail orientated and persistent to get the toilet to work. Unfortunately the parts that he had weren't cooperative, and Derek had to go get a box of new parts from Lowe's, and then within 10 mins the job was done to my satisfaction. Before he left Derek kept apologizing for the earlier inconvenience. Although the parts shouldn't cost as much, the overall price is quite reasonable. For his persistency and politeness, I would recommend PNHI to my friends.

I had a front door and screen installed and Craftsman Construction did an excellent job. They were so very professional and efficient, in addition to being very nice. I was so impressed that I have two other tasks that I hope to have started in January. And they cleaned up after themselves, wow! Craftsman Construction is definitely who you want to take care of any construction projects.

Jay custom built a cabinet for me that I had been wanting for years. I was never satisfied with any of the commercial products out there. It is absolutely stunning and goes perfectly in my home! He was great to work with, kept me in the loop during the process, but still left me pleasantly surprised with the finished product.

While building a 4,000 sq. ft. home I met Mike when looking for someone to build a wall of bookshelves and cabinets in the study. I am a designer by profession so I'm particularly detail oriented and this project was a lifelong dream. It didn't take long to realize Mike was a special talent and a great person. Many months later he has built, installed, fixed and finished things in every room in our house. From elaborate trim, wainscoting, a barn door (requiring restoration of a historic door), a very unique kitchen island, mirrors, cabinets, dumb waiter and laundry chute doors, to resizing and installing a historic fireplace surround, stair handrails, bathroom vanities, address numbers, a hidden door to a powder room, closet systems and custom clothes rods and shelves, the list literally goes on and on. Not only does Mike have the knowledge and skills to do such varied projects, he has excellent communication skills, invoices clearly, and treads lightly and respectfully throughout the home. Mike will be our first call whenever we need something built or installed in our home, and I recommend him enthusiastically. Feel free to get my phone number from Mike if you want to hear more. -Jay

Hired the guys at Light Construction to tackle my shower tile installation, after attempting to start it on my own, and realizing quickly that I was in over my head. I knew right from meeting them for an estimate, that these guys were pros. The quote was very competitive, and the agreement was very through and spelled out. The guys were on point. Allays on time, easy to talk to, and made me feel really comfortable. Also impressive considering they were commuting all the way into Redmond for our job. They went about a 1/2 a day longer than we originally planned, but the results were well worth it. Everything turned out super nice. They stayed on budget, and there were no surprises. They left the space clean, and even hauled away all the garbage I had laying around from my drywall "DIY" work. Will work with you guys again. Hard work and great results makes for return customers. (Also being Seahawks fans doesnt hurt your business case either) A+. Feel free to use me as a reference. Blake (Redmond)

I hired this company through Thumbtack. I was a little concerned as there was no review or recommendation for them. Naun and Emington were very nice to work with. I initially sent a photo of the existing built in shelf I needed adjusted to them. I explained the details of what needed to be done. Their quote was initially higher than most other quotes but he pursued to email me. I was honest and explained that his quote was on the very high side and I had two other quotes which were less expensive. We agreed on a price and he came in sooner than the other company I was thinking of going with. They sent a text before arriving. The took off shoes at my door. The work was completed to my satisfaction. I needed to have a built in shelf adjustd to fit a much larger tv in it. It required carpentry work. While they were here I asked them do a few other jobs like drill holes to place handles on cabinets, hang bifold foors, cut and place self stick backsplash on wall, replace 2 thresholds, repair of a wall and painting. All of the work was satisfactory. They broomed and vacuumed before leaving. I would recommend them.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
