I hired Northwest Premier Audio for my sister's wedding reception. They were great about meeting with me before the event and having music and the stage planned in advance. Setup took about a hour longer than originally planned but the three hour event was flawless. Price was on the higher end but the bride and groom were undoubtedly satisfied with Northwest Premier Audio's performance and professionalism.

Jaclynn truly made our lives so much easier preparing for and on our wedding day. She went above and beyond any and all expectations we had! She made both of us feel extremely comfortable and made sure that everything was natural and fun, rather than simply posed pictures. 10/10 recommend to anyone who needs a professional photographer who will make whatever event she is photographing relaxing, easy, and fun!

I'm a singer and needed someone to film a gig. My budget was tight and other videographers either stuck with their firm rate or made snarky "you get what you pay for" remarks. But Greg took the time to talk to me and work within my budget. He was a delight to work with the went above and beyond to give me a video I'm extremely proud of. I'd recommend him highly.

We hired John to photograph our benefit dinner. He showed up on time, worked with little direction/supervision, and followed our photography hit list. Photos turned out great! Would recommend him to another non profit for a professional event.

The lovely ladies that videotaped and photographer our event were wonderful to work with. I can hardly wait to see the video and pictures! Susy made sure that she captured this important moment just the way I wanted it and made it possible for those were unable to make it to the ceremony to be a part of the day by videotaping the letters we read and making the day extra special. So thankful to have found this company.

Robert was great to work with. He was prompt and courteous and went out of his way to accommodate our schedule. Best of all, he is a professional photographer with 20 years of experience who knows his work inside out. His photos look natural and beautiful. He also has artist's eyes and knows how to place a plant here or shoot from that angle to get the most out of each shots. Yes, I'd work with him again and would recommend him. And his price is very reasonable, too!

From start to finish, Edward and his team were very professional, timely, flexible, and considerate of our needs. They were able to ensure that the video footage was exactly how we wanted it, and were very flexible in our specific requests and needs (from music to when it comes in and how), and editing for the final video. Edward was very quick to respond to emails, and even though it was busy wedding season for him, he STILL got back to our emails and edit requests for our videos! Even with my constant emails and questions and probing, he was very professional and nice, and was able to deal with all my millions of emails to him! We are so lucky and thankful to have gotten such professional and great videographers for our wedding. Thank you so much, Edward and team!! We love the highlight video and the final video!! We could not have asked for a better experience and outcome!

The StoryMakers provided video services for our recent wedding vow renewal ceremony. They were affordable, worked with us to understand what we were looking for, were subtle/seamless during our event, and quickly provided a finished video to us. We're happy that now we have a video to remember the key moments of our event and to share with family and friends!

Over the past 5 years, John has videoed numerous events for me. These have been at both indoor and outdoor venues and have involved interviews with individuals as well as group events. John has gone out of his way, sometimes on short notice, to be available for these jobs, and has produced some great work for me during this time.

I contacted Joy on very short notice for a company Christmas party. She quickly furnished me with several great menus to choose from. We did a non hosted event, and I probably only had to interact with a total of 20 minutes to plan the entire event. The food was great, and the portions were very large. My employees were very happy. I absolutely recommend Joy Max Catering.

Jermaine Mendoza was able to film with such short notice and was able to provide a professional video with a very quick turnaround. He was professional from beginning to end, and I look forward to using his company in the future. Highly recommended!

Ray DJ'd for a wedding that I was coordinating. He made my job very easy and was so great to work with. He read the crowd perfectly and the music was spot on! I would highly recommend him to anyone that has a wedding or event they need a DJ/MC for! There were sooo many compliments about him to me at the end of the night.

Amora Cinema filmed our engagement and wedding video and both films turned out absolutely beautiful. I would have to say that choosing to have a videographer was one of the best investments we made for our wedding. When it came to filming our engagement video, it was so much fun! Rafael and Pauahi made the awkwardness of filming enjoyable and comfortable. We spent an entire evening filming but it simply felt like spending time with great friends and just hanging out. They both have a great gift with making their clients feel at ease around the camera and it was unreal to see the outcome of the engagement video. Once our wedding day rolled around, it was nice that we had filmed the engagement video because it took some tension off of being filmed since we knew what to expect. Even though we were being filmed pretty much the entire day, Rafael and Pauahi never made us feel bombarded by being filmed and did a great job being behind the scenes and capturing our wedding day Kodak moments. Rafael had a wonderful idea to play our engagement video during our reception and although I loved the idea, I knew we did not have the extra funds to rent out a projector. Rafael went out of his way to reach out to our reception and ask if they had a projector they could use to show our video and as luck would have it they did! Rafael set up the projector and provided us with one of the absolute best gifts on our wedding day. Not only did he show our beautiful engagement video, he completed a same-day edit of our wedding day! As I looked around the room I could just see the tears rolling from all our friends and family as our engagement video and wedding video unfolded "our story". Rafael did such an unbelievable job at showing our loved ones our love story and incorporating moments with our friends and family on our wedding day in the film.. It was absolutely amazing and I still cannot believe he was able to edit and put together the film in such a short amount of time. We received so many compliments after the video was shown about how beautiful the film was and even more compliments when we shared our video with friends and family that could not attend our wedding. Rafael has definitely found his passion in life and it genuinely shows in his work. I can say without hesitation that our film was one of the highlights of our day and I am so blessed to have worked with such humble individuals that put their all into making our film something we will always remember. My biggest advice to all engaged couples is to set aside a budget for your wedding day to be filmed. Your wedding day is so busy and fast paced it is hard to remember and capture all of those treasured moments, but with a wedding day film you always have the option to relive your wedding day. My now husband was not immediately on board with the idea because we paid for our entire wedding ourselves and it was just another expense to add, but he was so happy with Rafaels service and after he saw the videos he agreed it was one of the best investments we made for the wedding. I highly, highly recommend Amora Cinema for your wedding day videography. Thank you so much Rafael and Pauahi and good luck to your bright future together!

Working with Note was a fantastic experience. My fiancé and I are were very particular about how we wanted our wedding ceremony filmed, especially because we had a large number of guests (250+) in a tight venue. We really appreciated the fact that Note and his team were willing to sit down with us on multiple occasions to discuss our preferences and how our values could be integrated into the video. While I liked what they had to offer at our initial meeting, what really impressed me was their professionalism at the wedding itself. Note and his team coordinated with our event planner and photographer to ensure that they could get all the footage they needed without being intrusive. One of my close friends even asked me who I had hired for the video afterwards, and I was more than happy to refer him to LFF. Although my fiancé and I haven't received the final copy of our wedding video, we are happy to wait because the trailer they showed us was absolutely gorgeous. I appreciate that these guys take their time to deliver quality footage.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
