I'm the Clerk of my church, and Corey is cleaning the interior -- all regular cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, bathrooms, entry floor tile) as well as washing all interior relites and windows. He is thorough, great attention to detail, quick, efficient, versatile and comes with a love of whatever he is doing and desire to satisfy the customer. I would highly recommend him to any business or homeowner.

Katie did a terrific job in cleaning up the discoloration of the tile grout lines and silicone that had been added. She even removed some of the more stained grout and replaced it adding to the quality of the overall job.

Chris was professional and did a great job cleaning my carpet so I also hired him to do some cleaning in my former rental home that I was preparing to sell. Everything looked great downstairs but the upstairs left a little to be desired. Window sills were not clean like the sills on the main floor. That is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars

The cleaners are always so kind and do a great job with cleaning the house. They also work hard at working around my schedule when I need a schedule change. We have dogs and they put up with the barking as they come to the door. I completely trust them in my home and am always so pleased when I get home after they have been there.

KBM Northwest came to our house and put in new Crown Moulding, a tile backsplash, a porch remodel, and some other miscellanious finish work. I have never met a contractor that was actually more picky with MY HOUSE than I was. He would take the time to massage a piece of material that I was already 100% satisfied with and work it and work it and work it until it was absolutely perfect to him and he didn't charge me a dime for the difference. It was like he had to sign his name to it for generations to see. I've used countless contractors over the years, and I've never seen anything like it. If anyone can find a better contractor to do a better job at a better price then you have found a sasquatch riding a unicorn carrying a bouquet of four leaf clovers because in my experinece that contractor does not exist. Trust me. I've learned the hardway. KBM Northwest is the best.

Jamila cleaned for us twice, and both times were ok. Both times there was cleaning supply residue left on the counters, rags left laying around, other small things, however they were all little things we decided we could handle. We paid her for the two weeks she came, and then for a week in advance due to some confusion on her part. After this, Jamila and her sister never came. I reached out to her via text the day I came home and discovered she had not come but heard nothing. That weekend I called her phone and it said it had been shut off. Since then, I have called again, emailed her and requested she pay the money she took from us back. This was a disappointing experience as her and her sister seemed nice, and our intention was to use them as recurring cleaners. However, after the poor communication she had with us, as well as the fact she now as $125 of our money that she never cleaned for, I cannot recommend that anyone use her services.

Lynn began working for me when she first started her own business four years ago, and it has been great! She is honest, reliable, and trustworthy, and she gets the job done! One of the things I especially like is Lynn's use of Norwex cleaning products, which eliminates the need for chemically based cleaning solutions. Green, green, green! I would recommend Lynn to anyone in need of dependable, reliable help with the housework.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

      • Old standard or electric toothbrush
      • Stiff bristle brush
      • Spray bottle
      • White vinegar
      • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
