Nolan was great! He diagnosed the crazy wiring in my kitchen and figured out a solution for how to run all of my appliances without tripping the circuits. Also replaced an old GFCI outlet lickety split. He also took time to look at a bathroom fan that was acting up that wasn't on the original list. Nolan took the time to explain what he was doing and why it was needed which I really appreciated. I definitely recommend and will use him again for other projects around the house.

Excellent service, very professional, clean and fast. I hired several providers to help me with furniture assembly in the last weeks and Jarrod has been by far the best.

Corey and his co-worker went above and beyond our expectations! We had some issues with our U-Haul pick up, which resulted in the movers waiting around for an hour before we could start working. They remained patient and professional throughout the entire process. From start to finish, the movers were friendly and ready to do whatever was needed to get the job done. I really appreciate their assistance and would recommend Hardcore Home Improvement & Services to ALL!

The technicians of RoBoX arrived on a Saturday, making time that day for an issue with my dryer. They were courteous and knowledgeable, and were obviously looking to save me unnecessary expense as they isolated the problem. They kept me informed throughout the whole process, and charged me only for the time spent on the necessary repair. I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of timely and efficient service on any appliance repair needs.

Honest Home Services LLC went above and beyond for me. Not only did they perform a quality job, but they put up with my guard dog without me home, and had the cops called on them and still stayed to finish the job. They did everything they could for me and I wouldn't have had this project done if it weren't for their flexibility and patience.

Everything about our experience with Dennis was great! Our gas water heater went out and while I'm pretty good at repairs, I didn't know enough about replacing this appliance so we looked at the reviews and hired Dennis. His expertise, attention to detail, professionalism - all top-notch. And on top of it all, a very nice guy! We couldn't have asked for a better professional experience. Will definitely hire again.

To begin, I was really frustrated with the communication. I had a time slot, and about 30 minutes prior to the slot expiring, I hadn't seen or heard from my pro. So I contacted Miss Lynn. She then told me the pro was stuck on another job that had an emergency and we were able to reschedule for the next morning. Not a big deal, but I was annoyed that I had to initiate the conversation and had been at home waiting for almost 3 hours. The next morning, the pro was almost 2 hours late for our reschedule. I was about to give up when he finally arrived. I was again annoyed that I had been waiting since 8am but he began to work promptly. His work was solid, and he was a very nice guy. Ultimately, we decided to schedule him to come back for additional work. In conversation, I was able to understand that Miss Lynn is essentially a scheduling help for a co-op of many independent service provider pros. So it makes sense that there's not really a name of a company, and that her communication is essentially delayed as a third party. Ultimately, because their bid was the the best, we took a chance. And it worked out for us. (This bid was much more reasonable than the $4000+ bid I got from a Plumbing Company on Yelp). But if I had to share some constructive feedback, I would say Miss Lynn and her team could use some profile cleaning up for clarification and professionalism to help us consumers understand that this is in fact an agency / co-op. And that in the future, giving a phone # for direct contact with the pro would help alleviate some issues. Don't count on them to be on time, but you can count on a strong bid and quality work.

Larry added some gutter downspouts to a multi-level roof that had upper level gutters emptying out onto the next level roof surface. This arrangement was causing leaks during heavy rains. Larry added downspouts from the upper level gutters to empty into the next level gutters. Roof leak issues solved and the work looks great. Larry also replaced 2 man-doors in my garage that posed a security risk because they had doggy doors in them; one leading into the house and one leading into the yard. Excellent work on all projects. Larry informed me when he ran into unexpected issues and gave me options on how he planned to work around the issues and he did not charge extra for any of the unforeseen work. I even changed the original plan midway through the gutter job and he had no problems accommodating. He did quality work. The gutters function way better and look great. The new doors are set better and balanced better than the old doors. Great Work!!! I will be using LG Home Improvement and Maintenance again for future projects for sure!

We had Yuri install a smart switch. It was a bit of a complicated scenario but he was able to come up with different solutions for it and let us choose the best. I also hired Yuri in the past to check all sorts of electrical issues in my house and he gets the job done

My husband and I couldn't have imagined how wonderful the job TJ and Marvin did for us!! We hired them to - pretty much gut our backyard and deck - remodeling everything for us. They treated or job as if it was their own home. It was so much more than what we hoped for. I would - in a heartbeat - recommend them to anyone. The beautiful work they did for us will be enjoyed for years to come. They leveled our backyard, planted new sod, installed all new fencing, built patio with a fire pit. They tore down and built a new, enlarged deck that wraps around the side of our house. They took out our bedroom window and installed sliding doors to the new deck which looks out onto a beautiful wetland. They installed a new ceiling fan. When we moved into our house 5 years ago, our furnace was in one of our bathrooms. Due to the design of the bathroom, there was no way to cover the opening to the furnace - leaving it an eye sore. They took our the door to the bathroom and installed a smaller door - leaving them room to install a beautiful - barn door style door - closing the opening to the furnace. In the future, any remodeling to our home will be easy, all we'll do is call TJ and Marvin!! If I could, I'd give them 6 plus stars!!

Theses guys are great, they do what they say. On time, very polite, professional, and organized. I would recommend them for any phase of construction, but they are top notch framers. They helped frame my last custom home, and they will be my go to guys in the future.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
