It’s been almost a year that I have been with Aaron and his piano teaching method has provided me with new wings of aspiration in learning intermediate pieces from my beginner level stage. Aaron is punctual, sincere and provides great freedom in choosing pieces and is resourceful to provide contextual guidance, which is helping me remediate many techniques issues in my piano playing. Always full of energy, keen to listen and participate in various musical exploration (be it reading on composer or providing relevant nearby classical music concerts, etc). It’s been a joyful experience and looking forward to many more years of teaching from Aaron!

My daughter has only had two lessons with Aaron, so I do not have a long term relationship to base my review on. However, I can say that Aaron was very prompt at returning my emails and phone calls . Very professional in how he approached making financial arrangements and scheduling our lessons. He provided references for me to check with. He offered a complementary initial lesson. And perhaps most important, when I pick up my daughter from her lesson she has a smile on her face and says Aaron is very nice.

Aaron very talented as a teacher. He does a great job at explaining difficult concepts in easy to understand terms. His lessons have helped me excel in my music theory classes. Aaron is great teacher and I look forward to continuing lessons with him.

As a mature student who has taken lessons from various teachers throughout the years, Aaron was able to refocus and improve my playing considerably. He’s an excellent instructor.

Aaron is a great teacher. He explains the theory well, provides good feedback for improvement. He encourages practice outside the class providing multiple resources to facilitate this. He is also flexible in accommodating various types of teaching, going step by step vs learning through a song.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Adolescents 13 to 17
Parents and I meet to go over studio policies and answer questions, and we'll also schedule a time for an initial, free lesson with your teen. Once ongoing lessons begin, our first 3-5 are primarily exploratory, by which time they'll have taken on a shape and pace appropriate to your student.

You and I meet to go over studio policies, answer questions, and engage in a free 20 - 30 minute sample lesson, as time allows. Once lessons begin, our first 3-5 are generally exploratory, eventually taking on content and pacing that fits your interests and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a bachelor's degree in music with emphasis on piano from the UW, and I am the assistant editor for Perspectives of New Music, the leading peer-reviewed journal of contemporary music theory. In addition, I have significant experience performing and recording on trumpet, including jazz and classical study at the Oberlin Conservatory.
