With over 30 years of teaching experience, and a Master Degree in Piano Performance, I take a personal approach to each student by evaluating their skills and needs so that they can fulfill their musical goals. It is very rewarding for me to see people fullfill their dream of playing piano. Especially when they realize they can improve their skills way beyond what they had thought possible and make beautiful music. Lessons include theory, technique and a broad musical education with a wide range of the piano repertoire. I have been taking lessons with Geisa for a few months now and as an advanced student have made huge strides! For years I had a repetitive motion injury from poor technique and in this short time I've been able to tackle repertoire I never thought I'd be able to play. Her passion for music is contagious and she has introduced me to some beautiful pieces I'd never heard in my 26 years playing. She's generous, kind, and has a fabulous personality and of all the teachers I contacted, she was the only one to address my concerns about injury and memorization. I owe her a big thanks for bringing the joy of piano and music back into my life! Highly recommended for all levels.

My piano lessons with Geisa Dutra are, simply put, a gift. Geisa gives 150% of her expertise, meticulous attention, enthusiasm, great humor, support and patience to each of her students. Every measure, every phrase, every possible nuance is considered and embraced...leading to the most meaningful interpretation of the music at hand. Geisa's passion for the music fills the room and the time that passes all too quickly. She makes it crystal clear that simple mastery of playing the notes on the page is only the beginning of the journey. She is an expert at pointing out, with such thoroughness, all of the elements in the musical notation that brings one as close as possible to the composer's intent. She has a remarkable ability to draw attention to the patterns and theoretical techniques and concepts that help "map" out a piece and enhance the learning process. Her extensive knowledge of musical literature and the historical context of a composition also always help to further my accurate interpretation of a new piece. Underlying all of this is her ability, as well, to zero in on the actual physical techniques / body adjustments and practice styles that help a student to more readily "play" the piano with intelligence and skill.
