About
I’m Alan Lynch, a professional piano technician with over 12 years of experience as a field technician and rebuilder. For the past 3 years, I’ve worked in Seattle as the lead technician for a nationally recognized piano service company.
I’m currently the piano technician for Cornish College of the Arts and Bellevue College, trusted to care for their performance and teaching instruments.
My work takes me into college music departments, piano rebuilders’ shops, teachers’ studios, students’ homes, and concert venues—always with one goal: bringing out the best in each instrument.
I provide reliable, precise tuning and care so your piano sounds and feels its very best.
Every tuning includes a printed evaluation.
I’m also a certified player piano installer, specializing in PianoDisc installation, upgrades, and repair.

Alan provided excellent pianotuning service. He carefully inspected every aspect of our piano and explained its features in detail, including the quiet practice function, which I hadn't known how to use and found extremely helpful.
Our piano had not been tuned for several years, so Alan performed two rounds of tuning to restore it to excellent condition. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and took the time to ensure everything was properly adjusted.
I highly recommend Alan to anyone looking for a skilled, professional, and reliable piano tuner.

The piano hadn't been tuned in 15 years. It sounds great now. Price was as advertized and completed at arranged time. Will be using Alan for all future work.

Alan communicated when he would be arriving, answered any questions I had (I was curious about the process), showed me the condition of the piano before starting, like several stuck keys and showed me the after, including playing some of the keys. I really appreciated the digital graph he sent of the before and after of each key.

Alan is very kind and helpful. He was very comfortable explaining his process and articulating problems found. Additionally, his experience and knowledge on pianos made him easy to trust with my instrument.
My piano sounds and plays much better as a result of his services. I would recommend Alan for any piano service needs.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I discount tunings for bi-annual or quarterly tunings.
In Seattle, it’s ideal to tune twice a year!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with a thorough evaluation of the piano and get to know the needs of the customer. I always give advice that I myself would follow, whether it’s service recommendations, humidity recommendations, or rebuilding/replacement options.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’m a Piano Technicians Guild member and have attended 4 National conventions (and counting!). Keeping on top of your profession is essential, as is an always-learning attitude. I’m a certified PianoDisc Installer, PianoLifeSaver certified installer, and have attended Chuck Behm’s small shop academy twice, focusing in both upright and grand piano rebuilding. I’m a graduate of the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology.
