My daughter excelled in a year-long Geometry class with Live Online Math getting more out of it than any previous math class. The teacher was uniformly calm and encouraging, had high expectations of the students and got their best work from them. The class had clear learning objectives, all covered by the end of the course. The next year she studied Algebra II with a LOM tutor, again excellent. A great teacher, always on schedule, couldn't be more convenient or effective for studying and learning math. And did I mention very affordable compared to tutors that come to the home in person? We'll be sure to return for more tutoring when dd gets to her next challenging math class.

My daughter, a high school senior, has been working with her outstanding LOM Tutor weekly since October when she started feeling overwhelmed by the higher-level concepts in her challenging Precalculus course. Several months later, she has earned an "A" for 1st semester! Last year, she struggled to make a "B-" in Algebra II, so her rising grade is quite an improvement. More importantly, her confidence and understanding of complex higher-level math concepts have also vastly improved. Although she has an excellent math teacher at the alternative high school program she attends, meeting with her weekly tutor has been invaluable because her tutor explains difficult concepts in an easy-to-understand manner in a nonthreatening environment of digital learning where my math-anxious perfectionist daughter does not feel intimidated. She has told me many times that having a private tutor has been the single most helpful thing she has ever experienced in her entire academic math career! I am very thankful for LOM for making exceptionally high-quality private tutoring affordable. As a parent with over 10 years of homeschooling experience, I am very satisfied with LOM products and programs, and I am looking forward to continuing to use LOM services and products with my son, who is now an 8th-grader. I discovered LOM tutoring because my son is using a LOM Pre-Algebra video course. I was going to sign up my daughter with a local private math tutor, but the cost was prohibitive; also, we live in a rural area, and we would have had to drive 45 minutes to find a tutor who was qualified to teach Precalculus. Digital learning is within our budget and much more convenient, since the tutor literally comes to my daughter for live interactive sessions via our computer. Although the tutoring sessions are not recorded for future review, this has not been a problem since my daughter takes notes and the tutor sends a written summary of each session to us immediately after each session. I researched extensively before choosing LOM tutoring services, and I do not believe there is a better option in this price range. Many of the other online tutoring services were impersonal, used a different tutor each week, and/or used international tutors (who are speaking English as a second-language and may not be familiar with math as it is taught in the United States, which I think should be avoided below the college level). Signing up for tutoring services was fast and very easy. I emailed LOM and the owner of the company (!) responded within a few minutes and offered my daughter a free sample tutoring session immediately; this was such a relief for my daughter, who had literally been crying in her room for an hour for fear that she was going to get a bad grade in math and, "...ruin my chances for getting into my favorite colleges." She loved the trial session, so we then set up regular weekly sessions with her own private tutor. Although they usually meet at the same day and time each week, the tutor has been flexible and encouraged my daughter to change the weekly session so it coordinates with her in-class tests. We cannot say enough about her phenomenal tutor! Oh, and by the way, my daughter was accepted at her first choice college, Willamette University, and at all the other private liberal arts colleges to which she applied early decision (Lewis and Clark, Linfield, and Pacific Lutheran University--she is waiting to hear from Whitman and University of Puget Sound). I could not more highly recommend the LOM tutoring service.

John Bovey has taught my son for three years now: Algebra 1, Geometry, and now, Algebra 2. It has been a wonderful experience for us and my son has enjoyed Mr. Bovey and the "friends" he's made in class. But the proof is in the pudding, and my sons SAT and ACT scores prove he knows his stuff!!

Helpful, generous with time and willing to work with our schedule. Super economical way for one on one tutoring.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you're looking for tutoring, you'll want to be sure that the tutoring hasn't been outsourced to India, the Philippines, etc. It's important that your tutor can relate to your student and establish a working relationship. Let alone be able to communicate effectively!
