Jewlie is absolutely fantastic! She's always looking out for our pets and she's been watching our dogs since they've been puppies, I wouldn't go to anyone else. She keeps an eye out on behavior changes in our dogs in case they get into anything they shouldn't be. She sends us the occasional photo of our dogs playing in the yard which is just great! I put a lot of trust into her pet sitting skills and you can tell she takes this very seriously and she's never let me down. Highly recommended to anyone looking for quality pet care! :)

I have dealt with Kelley and her crew for several months and I find their care and passion for their client's pets to be admirable. The crew has often gone beyond there norm to assist me in training my dog "PJ" and help me with some problems at my residence. Kelley and her associates are caring and considerate and fun to be around. PJ enjoys his walk and adventures has become a happy and well mannered companion. Thank you Kelley and continued success with 4 Paws and a Wag.

Cece was great! She was very knowledgeable about animals and an obvious animal lover! She picked up our cat took care of her at her home for over 2 wks. and then brought her home. Cece went out of her way to accomodate and even took the time to stop by and get acquainted ahead of time. We are already planning on useing her services for our next trip.

I would highly recommend Laura for dog walking and dog sitting services. She goes far above and beyond with what she does and really cares about your pets. The first time she dog sat for us our flight was delayed and extra day and she was willing to stay and take care of them since we didn't have any family in the area to help us out. She had also been scheduled to dog sit for us when I was going to have a planned C-section and I ended up having an unplanned one a week earlier she was out of town for business. When I texted her to see if she was in town and available she was on her way back from out-of-town business trip and she came directly from the airport without going home to go stay with our dogs for the night. She also had a genuine interest in us and our family and asked how her baby and I were doing. She provides great communication as she sits for your pets and I trust her 100% caring for our home and our 2 dogs. Since we had just relocated to the area and didn't know anybody out here to help us out this past year so lucky to find her. She drives from Seattle to Renton to dog sit at our house and only wished she lived closer to help us out for daytime dog walks. I would highly recommend hiring her! Jessica

Denise and Pam are fantastic! My dog loves them, she comes home exhausted everytime she's with them. They are very professional and friendly. They care about your dog and entire family! They rinse my dog and dry her off when she is dirty and wet and give her a snack of her food before they go. I am so happy I found them and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Marnie is a person of high moral integrity, is honest, dependable and very loving. She loves animals and has two pets who are her children. She has rescued homeless pets, seen to their medical treatments and found forever homes for them as she could. I've walked my vacationing friend's dog, Murphy with Marnie and her dog, Poochie on many occasions and Murphy loved Marnie. And Marnie has cared for other pet's and is the ideal pet sitter.

My husband and I went on a two week road trip out of state to visit family. We needed a sitter to look after our two cats, one of whom has emotional attachment issues to the point that he develops health issues if he doesn't get consistent attention (he's even had to go to the hospital in the past). We are so, so thankful we found Angelica!! Angelica has pets on her own and "gets it"- she gave our cats (and two mice) consistent daily cuddles, food, water, and even cleaned the cat box for us. She also sent daily updates which we really appreciated. Our overly-attached kitty was happy as a clam when we returned; no health issues at all!! And all for a super reasonable fee. We will absolutely be using Leash the Dog Services again in the future!!

We were very blessed to have Betty help us. She responded very quickly and was willing to help us with little to no notice over the Christmas holiday. She is very kind , trustworthy and is a true animal lover. Our fur babies enjoyed her attention and love while we were away and Betty was great at keeping us posted on how they were doing. As business owners ourselves we would highly recommend hiring Betty as we had complete trust and confidence in her ability to care for our fur babies and home.

Diana always takes care of our 2 guinea pigs when we are abroad. They are not the hardest pets to take care of but they do need attention and to be fet. Diana does it so well the animals come back more social then we left them. She also cuts their nails and grooms them. Because of her background in the veterinary field she also keeps an close eye on their health and wellbeing.Diana also knows how to treat small ailments and when to go to the vet. With her your pets are save, healthy and most importantly well loved.

        About

I love working with animals and spending my time with them. I volunteered as a bather and groomer for a long time, so I have a lot of experience working with dogs, and fairly well at training them. Also have no problems with any animals or reptiles. I go on 2-3 walks a day, and have a lot of spare time on my hands.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

        • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
        • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
        • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
        • What are your different walk routes?
        • When will you pick up and drop off?
        • How will we communicate?
        • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
        • What’s your cancellation policy?
        • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
        • How and how often do I pay you?
        • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

What is included in a dog grooming?

Dog grooming is so much more than giving your dog a bath. Dog grooming is a broad term that covers all aspects of canine cleanliness and hygiene. The services included in dog grooming will vary based on your needs and what you choose to pay. Unless they are rolling in cowpies or playing in mud puddles, most dogs are okay getting a shampoo bath only as needed. You’ll know when they need it if they smell bad or are bringing dirt into the house. Some dogs, like shepherds and shih tzus, have thick coats that can get matted and tangled without regular care. Pro dog groomers can deftly blow dry a dog’s hair after a bath so that it is shiny and smooth. Dog grooming can include brushing that detangles dog hair and also thins the undercoat to minimize shedding.

Dog grooming also includes hygiene services such as toothbrushing and ear cleaning. Clean teeth are important to the health of your dog, and the pros have the patience and proper technique to get it done. Regular dog grooming can stave off tear stains, those reddish stains below your dog’s eyes. Anal gland expression is something not many people want to do on their own, even if they love their dog. A dog groomer can safely and efficiently release any blocked anal gland fluid. Other dog grooming services include nail trimming and clipping. Nationally, dog grooming prices range from $60 to $80. Most dog groomers offer discounts to customers who purchase monthly packages or bundle multiple grooming services at one time.

        What is a dog groomer?

Keep your family dogs happy, healthy and clean with regular dog grooming. A dog groomer is a business owner or employee of a dog grooming business who specializes in dog hygiene and grooming. To find a reputable dog groomer, research reviews, ask for references and confirm that the groomer has good standing in the dog grooming community.

A dog groomer should be comfortable and competent working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Typically a groomer will have trained with other groomers and taken educational courses to keep abreast of the latest safety information and techniques. There are brick-and-mortar dog grooming businesses, as well as mobile dog groomers who bring all their equipment and provide their services at your home or location. In some cases, brick-and-mortar businesses will also pick up and return your dog for an additional fee.

        What is a dog groomer?

A dog groomer is a service professional who provides dog grooming and basic hygiene care for your dog. Dog groomers are typically animal lovers who are competent and comfortable working with a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. Dog groomers are knowledgeable about the care needs for different kinds of dog coats. A poodle will have different haircut needs than a shih tzu, for example, so it pays to have a trained pro provide the proper cut. Good dog groomers know how to safely clean your dog’s teeth, bathe your dog, and cut their nails without going too short. They understand how to trim the hair from around your dog’s face, express anal glands, and clean your dog’s ears. Many people who choose dog grooming as a profession also pursue other dog services such as attending veterinary school, running a doggy day care center, working as a professional dog walker, and more.

How much does it cost to groom a dog?

Dog grooming costs depend on the service your pet requires. Nationally, the average price for dog grooming ranges from $40 to $100, varying by location. Not surprisingly, dog grooming on New York’s Upper East Side costs nearly double what it costs in a small town in Montana. Dog groomers typically handle every aspect of your dog’s beauty and hygiene, from tooth brushing to hairstyling. One potential way to save is to have your dog groomed at your doggy daycare — sometimes they offer discounts on dog grooming prices for clients. Here are some examples of average dog grooming costs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note these prices would include transportation fees for picking up and dropping off your dog to your home:

        • Nails: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
        • Toothbrushing: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
        • Tooth scraping (removal of plaque from teeth to prevent infection), with anesthesia: $600
        • Tooth scraping, without anesthesia: $400.
        • Wash and dry: $60
        • Ears: $30 a la carte or $20 when bundled with another service
        • Grooming package: $130 — includes wash, nails, teeth, ears, gland expression and haircut
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
