FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After emailing you our references and pricing/walking model we come to you for a consultation. It's free, and this gives us the opportunity to meet you face to face and to show us your pups routine. We then take a walk around the block to assess how he is on leash. Whether it's a three legged Coonhound who needs his exercise, a 12 yo senior who wants to stop and pee on the roses, or an Irish Setter puppy who needs leash training, we develop a walking plan that's specific to you and your pups needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are active members in N.A.P.P.S, the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters, Pet CPR and Emergency Certified, and partner with CPTD-KA professional dog trainers. We are always taking continuing education courses related to leash aggression, separation anxiety and basic obedience.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
For as long as I can remember, I have always cared about animals. When I was young, I wanted to be a marine biologist and work with dolphins. While pursuing my Bachelors I needed a job but more importantly, I was seeking one where I found fulfillment while finishing school. I had done the restaurant route, worked retail but was looking for something more. I'd done FFA in junior high and high school and remembered fondly the connections I'd made with animals and decided to give dog walking a try. Needless to say the passion I'd always had for animals was reawoken. I was with a Seattle based company for three years, graduated, worked in my field for a year but would daydream about my dog walking days wondering why I wasn't doing something I'd been so feverishly in love with. In summer 2015 I took the leap and started Walk This Way Dogs. Hundreds of dog walks, two employees and #1 on Yelp and Google, I've never looked back and am truly thankful for the opportunity to be doing what I love seven days a week. As an adult, I regularly donate to elephant welfare groups, The World Wildlife Fund, the Human Society and the ASPCA. Providing the best dog service is my way to contribute to the welfare and care of animals.
