Q & A

What makes a good logo design?

A good logo is an easily identifiable, memorable image that represents your brand. A good logo design aligns with your business model and expresses your company’s core values. A good logo design is simple, appealing, and easy for customers and viewers to quickly process. Some of the key components of a great logo are type, color palette and design. The scale, font and arrangement of the text you select will all make a difference in the feel and representation of your brand. A graphic designer will help you home in on the colors that best represent your identity and help you keep the color palette simple. The design of your logo includes the shapes you select and the way the color and type are arranged together. Investing in the services of a professional to create your logo design is likely a smart investment for any size business. Nationally, the average price range for a logo designer ranges from $170 to $250.

How much does it cost to create a logo?

Logo design is an important part of your company’s brand development. More than an image with text and color, a logo communicates the tone and personality of your company to your potential customers. Hiring a graphic designer with an appealing portfolio and quality reviews is a solid start to creating a winning logo design. The cost to create a logo can depend on how in-depth the marketing and design services you request are. Designers can create one logo in multiple formats (horizontal, vertical, etc.) to fit both your website and social media platforms, they can create a variety of designs for clients to select from, or they can create multiple logos for one client who needs branding for more than one venture. Logos may be text-only, text and image, or image-only. Many designers and design firms charge by the hour for their services, while other companies offer packages bundled with design services. Here are some examples of cost:

  • National average cost to hire a logo designer: $170-$250.
  • Average hourly rate for a freelance marketing consultant: about $150.
  • Tiered pricing for logo design packages from one firm:
    • Package One: $200 for three logo concepts, three rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
    • Package Two: $350 for 10 logo concepts, unlimited rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
    • Package Three: $550 for everything included in the Package Two, plus business card design, letterhead design, social media graphics and an email signature.
    • Package Four: $850 for everything in the Package Three, plus custom brand guidelines, which outline a strategy for creating a consistent branding in the client’s business.
Reviews for Tacoma logo designers
Joe D.
I was very disappointed in the proofs I received as well as the clip art ideas that were shown to us. I constantly told her what I wanted and what I was looking for...she had other ideas, which may have been ok, but there was no communication. I even went as far as copying her proof...writing not he page what i wanted and still...it was not done, and even changed form what I liked about her idea. When I asked why....she said it was about resolution. I thought (and have been told by other graphic artists) That I am paying for her to make the resolution...in fact, if she wasn't able to make the resolution able to blow up to a usable logo size....business card size...then it truly is clip art and not an original design at all. Very disappointing. Who I questioned all this...she then quit and told me she would be keeping my deposit, and refused to give it back. We even tried again, to let her redeem...but her promises of working till we were satisfied from her initial contacts and messages...quickly turned to "this is it, one last time, and you will not receive any refund if not happy" We only only received three actual proofs from her. After contacting our attorney , I learned a lot more about her practices and was then finally given a refund through Pay-Pal. This is business, not personal...I was asked for a review...She was very nice in the beginning...but when you are not happy or want to change something...she attacks on a personal note. Not happy with this at all...Im still waiting for the refund I was promised....but I was also promised (in writing) complete satisfaction and an eager working relationship...lol Update 12/23/17 Karen , again disappointed in the way you handle reviews and criticism. Blaming the customer and trying to turn it personal is not a good thing,....especially when this customer is more than willing to post the messages and our emails to show EXACTLY what transpired....and it has NOTHING to do with me never being pleased. Accept b;lame that you actually bit off more than you could chew on this job...and you just did not know how to go about it or how to do the work. SO...Please,...dont blame me...or others. As I said...its business. I hired you for a job you did not complete...you did not do what was asked...(and again, I am more than willing to post our messages showing my accepting and easy work with nature, as well as the very specific items I asked for that you refused to provide stating later that you thought against my request as it was your art. ITS NOT YOUR ART, KAREN...THIS IS MY LOGO THAT REPRESENTS MY BUSINESS...you quit..etc..etc... please...accept it , learn from it...move on. dont make excuses and dont blame for your shortcomings. Again...Im more than happy to post what I wanted and our communication thread stating such...as it was not unreasonable...nor was it a difficult request....or was I difficult to please....
