I'm the Clerk of my church, and Corey is cleaning the interior -- all regular cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, bathrooms, entry floor tile) as well as washing all interior relites and windows. He is thorough, great attention to detail, quick, efficient, versatile and comes with a love of whatever he is doing and desire to satisfy the customer. I would highly recommend him to any business or homeowner.

Katie did a terrific job in cleaning up the discoloration of the tile grout lines and silicone that had been added. She even removed some of the more stained grout and replaced it adding to the quality of the overall job.

My hardwoods are GORGEOUS. Bathroom tile was also done very well. We had some initial problem with a small section of tile but Bogden was very quick to come back and correct it. I would recommend this company to anyone refinishing hardwoods or laying tile. Beautiful work.

KBM Northwest came to our house and put in new Crown Moulding, a tile backsplash, a porch remodel, and some other miscellanious finish work. I have never met a contractor that was actually more picky with MY HOUSE than I was. He would take the time to massage a piece of material that I was already 100% satisfied with and work it and work it and work it until it was absolutely perfect to him and he didn't charge me a dime for the difference. It was like he had to sign his name to it for generations to see. I've used countless contractors over the years, and I've never seen anything like it. If anyone can find a better contractor to do a better job at a better price then you have found a sasquatch riding a unicorn carrying a bouquet of four leaf clovers because in my experinece that contractor does not exist. Trust me. I've learned the hardway. KBM Northwest is the best.

Hello I have had Chad and Alex of Signature Tile do two bathroom in the house. In the master bath they installed a heated floor and marble on the floor and the shower. They did such a great job that when it came time to redo another bath in the house I called Chad again. In the second bath we mixed 12” X12” marble tile and 15”X15” travertine tile into a pattern that turned out extremely well everybody that see’s the floor comments on how unique and nice it looks. I would strongly recommend Signature Tile and I will have them back when we do the next project that requires tile work. Kevin

We can't praise Anthony enough for all the work he did for us to get our house ready to be put on the market. He did an amazing job with our fireplace - framing it with tile, building a custom mantel from wood, and painting the brick. He also replaced our sinks, old light switches, and installed custom skylight blinds. He did everything within time and budget and always had a professional and friendly manner. You can tell that he really cares about doing quality work. He wasn't satisfied until it was up to his high standard. We truly enjoyed having Anthony help us with our projects, and are so happy we found a handyman that we can trust to do excellent work.

My husband and I had only 10 days to have work done on our condo before we moved in. Rodrigo and his team worked very long hours and were incredibly efficient at removing a popcorn ceiling and installing laminate flooring to match the current laminate. They did the work at an unbeatable price. Rodrigo was also very flexible. At the outset, we weren't exactly sure what we were looking for as a finished product and we wanted more changes than we could afford. He spent a lot of time with us, presenting us with various ideas, opinions, advice, options and quotes to match our budget and timeline. Our jobs are demanding and we couldn't always make decisions and communicate them until relatively last minute, but he was up to the challenge. We have a very high vaulted ceiling and it was no small task to remove the popcorn, sand, and paint it. They also removed the popcorn from inside closets in the bedrooms, in the bedrooms themselves, and in the hallway. They matched the laminate flooring perfectly and completed it on time, even though they had to remove the water heater in the closet, fill in concrete below it, and level parts of the floor before laying down the laminate. While they had the water heater removed, they attached an expansion tank recommended by our home inspector. It was so much easier to have all of this work done with just one contractor and Rodrigo was very responsive.

Our tile professional Taylor, arrived on time and went straight to work. He was also being shadowed by new trainees. I was struck by his words of wisdom to the trainee. "Take your time and do the job right so customers are happy and you don't waste their time by having to come back out to fix your mistake". Despite him training, he kept his focus on the task at hand and did a beautiful job. I would hire him to help with future tile jobs.

Sal took the extra time to explain alternative solutions to my tiling project and left the final decisions up to us. I was very impressed with his quality workmanship and attention to detail. He is fast; and yet, very professional. I would hire him again and I highly recommend him.

I had Chris out to my house recently to redo our house. When i say redo, i mean redo. A pipe broke but it was more like a slow leak so when i had my floors rotting out that rippled into walls we decided to redo everything. We had hardwood and tiles put in and they were flawless. I dont know if i can attach pictures but if i can i will. He remodeled our bathroom, our kitchen, and our living room. Remodeled half of our study and my daughters room. I painted the whole interior to get rid of the mold. Insulation and plumbing was done by a sub he recommended but everything turned out flawless. I loved getting updates while i was at work or out of town. Toni sent me pictures of extra work that was going to be involved and asked if i wanted it performed not pressuring me into it. I also appreciate the fact that they worked weekends. I appreciated the fact that they were so courteous of my stuff, covering my clothes when they sanded the drywall in the laundry room, carefully placing my paintings where they would not get broken, etc. At one point, something was cut short, it was a really simple mistake but Chris went and got some more to replace it. I really appreciated their honesty. They did what they said they would do and on time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. I loved the fact that they fixed the issues and i loved the fact that they stayed within their estimate even though most of the work was hourly rated. They really increased the value of my home! Call them for repairs or remodeling...

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
