Understand the market, availability and how subcontracting works. My business model is a single operation, your special event. However, most competitors are multi-operational. They book several discounted weddings on your day to maximize their profit margin. You will save money, however they also subcontract amateurs to meet your budget. On average, the demand is 35,000 weddings a year per state. Having served on the Board of Directors for several years, I can assure you the supply in the Midwest Association of Professional Disc Jockeys (Metro - North West Chapter) is only a few hundred. With only 26 Saturdays available in season (May - October), that's more than approximately 1,300 weddings on the same day as your event! SO BEWARE, 3 out of every 4 vendors are potentially part-time. That's a 75% chance that you will be assigned the second, third, or even 10th DJ still available, often just a week before your event. Choose to be that 1 out of 4 wedding by booking 12 - 24 months in advance with an experienced owner. You will invest a little more, however I have a 96% customer satisfaction rating. I'm also ranked in the Top 3% in the nation. In addition, I was awarded the #1 service provider within a 150 mile radius of Minneapolis by Thumbtack customers! This quality package is all inclusive with a $15,000 production value. Most importantly, you have a 24 year experienced veteran, not a subcontractor who is looking for work after no one has hired them.

I served a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Midwest Association of Professional Disc Jockeys. I was also a key note speaker, teaching seminars & attending regional trade shows and national conventions to network and educate. I stay current with trends and strive to continuously improve.
