I am very grateful to have met Matt at Cedarburg Music. After playing guitar for 14 years I decided I needed a fresh perspective, and I signed up for my first ever guitar lesson – a very smart decision. I have taken private lessons from many different teachers for other instruments, and I feel Matt is the best teacher I have ever had for several reasons. Matt takes you as you are, and points you in the direction YOU want to go with great advice. Never once has he ever forced "his opinion" about what's good music. Instead it's a discussion, and he gets you to think. Matt knows his music theory. We often study modal theory, and focus on the intervalic separation of the notes in relation to chord tones with a keen ear toward dissonance and resolution. In my opinion, this is what separates quality musicians from those who just spray notes. A lot of teachers I've had are extremely NOT creative. They just tell you to buy a book and do what it says, then the lesson comes and it's a rehearsal. Sorry; I can do that on my own. But with Matt, it's much different. If we work from a book, we focus on understanding and applying the concepts the book lays out. This involves discussion, interaction and playing notes not written in the book. Most importantly, I am more inspired than ever with my playing, and my confidence in my compositions is growing. I believe I am getting better. Believe me, after over a decade of playing it's easy to feel like you're spinning wheels and not getting anywhere. It's a great feeling to know in my heart that I've got that ball rolling again! Thanks, Matt!

About

Jamison provides drum lessons in Sheboygan, WI. Students receive individual instruction. Lessons are 30 minutes on a weekly basis. Taking drum lessons with a proficient instructor is the fastest way to progress as a drummer. Lessons are tailored to the student's style and pace. There are two common approaches to learning drums. - Learn to read drum music by understanding notation, time signatures, and counting. - Learn to play by ear by listening and watching. Drummers who cannot read music will be lost in situations where reading music is required. Some students are better wired to watch, listen, and learn. Daily practicing is the key. Beginning drum students should practice 20 minutes every day. Effective practicing is essential to making progress. Jamison will teach you how to practice effectively. Students beginning school band will gain the solid foundation that is critical for progressing into and excelling at advanced drum skills. "As students progress, they develop a strong base for improvising in live settings, such as rock bands, church worship teams, and jazz bands." Taking private drum lessons is the best way for beginning drummers to master drumming basics and surpass the average student. Lessons are offered for these percussion instruments: * Snare Drum * Drum Set * Marimba * Xylophone * Bells * Timpani * Orchestral Percussion * Band Percussion * Hand Drums and Percussion To see about starting lessons for yourself or your child, send Jamison an email or visit SheboyganDrums. Jamison is a university-trained percussionist. He has been teaching drum for 20 years. His drum skills are sought after by performing musicians and recording artists. About

I have been in several accomplished bands and have written close to a thousand songs. I love to share my knowledge, enthusiasm, and shortcuts to attentive beginners of any age. Experienced in all aspects of modern music making, I engage students with a "big-picture" learning style that simultaneously and easily teaches the guitar, percussion, and vocals, and I always let the students decide what they want to learn! The guitar is made easy and fun. For more involved music makers, I offer songwriting assistance and instruction. As a bonus, I guarantee that I can make anyone, no matter how horrible they sound now, into a great singer quickly! My rates are reasonable, and the time spent is memorable. Feel free to contact references of current clients upon request. All ages are encouraged. Blessings.

      About

Being largely self-taught, with some help along the way- I have a "non-traditional" way of teaching using patterns, computer software such as Capo, as well as teaching the basic music vocabulary that a new musician may come across. Having been a Professors assistant at the Tech College in Madison I can proudly say that I can communicate effectively with anyone willing to listen, and I can tailor my presentation in many ways so it is easily understood. I also have built an electric guitar and know how to properly adjust guitars to make them easier to play, sound better and keep them "healthy."
