Pagac's Precision Carpet Installation responded to my inquiry within 24 hours, showed up on time for the estimate and installation, and went above and beyond when the job required more time and effort than originally anticipated...I would give Shawn my highest recommendation and use him in the future the next time I need carpet installation.

Josh did a great job remodeling my entire bathroom, tile, shower, floor, trim, paint, vanity, lighting. Bathroom looks great, affordable quote with excellent communication/project management and a very fair price. I would recommend for bathroom tiling and paint, etc. I actually did all the demo, and it got too difficult for me to continue, Josh came in and knocked the project out the park.

there are couple things I do not like, I just paint the whole house before new carpet installation, but after carpet installation, I see one black palms print on my wall, also another wall area has 2X2 sf scratches by carpets. I have to repaint all those areas, terrible carpet installation job. there is another accident too, the installation guys locked them out from my house, when I tried to call lock smith to open the door, the installation guy used a screw driver to force open the lock, and damaged the front door, I have to pay locksmith $25 trip fee, and will cost me more to repair damaged door.

I recently purchased a home and have had P&P solutions do many different odds and ends from interior and exterior painting to the installation of my Nest thermostat and garbage disposal. All work was done with a perfect combination of care and quickness. Very professional and I have yet to find something they haven't been able to help me with.

Waukesha, WI I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with this franchise of Floor Coverings International. From the moment Matt (the owner) answered their phone to the moment Michelle just left they have been nothing but professional and a pleasure to work with. As I am in a wheelchair I needed to have the floors redone in my entire apartment. Once they set a time and date for the appointment they actually showed up when they were supposed to, unlike several other companies I tried to get out here to quote my job. Once Robert came out and we talked more about what I was looking for he went down to his van and brought back multiple samples of the products we had spoken about. In this case carpeting in the bedrooms and vinyl plank with a hardwood look finish everywhere else. After looking at colors we didn't really see anything that I liked, so once again he went back down to his van and brought up more samples. We finally settled on the carpet and flooring that I wanted a bid for. He then used his high tech measuring gadget, which was good as I have some quirky walls, to measure everything out. By the time he left the parking lot (10 minutes later) I had a firm quote in my e-mail from him. This is unlike some of the larger companies who if I could get to come see me I couldn't get a quote from them because they were "to busy".To shorten this up they came and put in the flooring and did a marvelous job. Their workers were courteous, showed up on time and did a wonderful job. Both Michelle, the project manager and Robert their sales person were here every day to check on progress and make sure I was being accommodated.Once again, I cannot stress how impressed I am with this company and all of their employees. If you live in the greater Milwaukee area do not hesitate to contact them and see what I mean.

Working with Steve was an amazing, POSITIVE contrast to previous contractors we've had in the house. We gave him a "test drive," by asking him to install a couple of windows. When we experienced his workmanship and dependability, we then contracted him to patch up the drywall and install the kitchen cabinets we had already ordered from another company. Dependable: Steve came when he said he would---or called when he was running late. He also went above and beyond what was "required" of him to do his job. We didn't have a car big enough to bring one of our windows home, so Steve picked it up for us, and brought it home! Quality of workmanship: His work was outstanding. Steve paid attention to big AND small details (leveling each of the cabinet doors!); carefully followed--or improved upon--the cabinet plans; touched up the paint that was scuffed when cabinets were installed; and cleaned up after himself every day. With the drywall, he took the time to go over it two or three times, until the new part was seamless with the old. With the window trim, he made a custom stain that beautifully coordinates the window trim to the cabinets, and gave me extra for our future use. Knowledgeable: He knows the code, and chooses to go beyond the minimum. He moved one of our windows, and told us the minimum header was eight inches. He chose to put in an ten inch header. When the rough work was done by the other contractors (plumber and electrician), he pointed out a couple of things that weren't up to code, and said we should be sure these details were done before the rough inspection. He helped me save thousands of dollars by walking me through how to be my own general contractor---at no cost to us. From time to time, Steve would even call me to see how things were progressing, and let me know the "next step," to keep things moving. He pointed out ways he could have saved me money on the cabinets, if I had ordered through him. We're hoping to do an addition on the house in a couple of years. When we do, we'll be calling this guy again. Thanks, Steve, for your outstanding workmanship! I LOVE our kitchen! :)

We wanted to replace our 10 year old carpet with hardwood so we had David come in and give us an estimate. He provided us with the pros and cons of the different options. We decided on going with bamboo. Less than a week later we had all 3 rooms fully completed and for a good price. I don't know when they finished exactly, but when I got home from work, I found David waiting for me to get home so that he could make sure that the installation was done to our satisfaction. It is a beautiful floor and very expertly installed. I would recommend Banigan's to anyone in need of new flooring. They do great work and give you exactly what you want without trying to push more on to you than you want or can afford.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

    • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
    • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
    • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
    • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
    • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.

How much does it cost to install carpet?

If you’re ready to bring new life into your house with a makeover from the ground up, you’re ready to learn more about carpet installation costs. Installation costs vary greatly, depending on a number of factors such as the type of carpet, the number of square yards, any necessary repair work, the number of stairs you have, and where you live. Due to these variables, the national average cost of carpet installation ranges between $200 and $4,500.

To start planning for your new carpet, measure roughly how many square yards of carpet you’ll need. Research the main carpet styles and materials you like to get a feel for what they cost. Nylon carpets are typically the least expensive, and wool is one of the higher-end carpets. Prices per square foot might range from under $2 to over $10, depending on materials. Count the number of stairs you want carpeted; each one might average between $3 and $10 (or more for box steps). Carpet removal can be an added cost as well, averaging $1-$4 per square yard, depending on the company and regional disposal costs.

How much does it cost to install carpet on stairs?

The number of stairs you want carpeted in your home will directly affect your carpet installation cost. Putting carpet on stairs generally increases the labor time and requires a higher degree of detail than laying carpet flat. Where you live in the country also plays a role in your carpet installation cost. Carpet installation companies in smaller towns with a lower cost of living and a lower cost to do business (insurance, company vehicles, employee labor, etc.) can usually offer their customers lower rates than companies in large cities where the cost of living and the cost to do business are higher. Carpet pros will often quote you a flat rate per stair once they do a site visit to provide an estimate. They’ll take into account the size of each stair you want carpeted (including both the step and the riser), and what type of stair it is. For example, the cost might range between $3 and $10 per stair for labor only. On the higher end of the spectrum, box stairs or staircase stairs with spindles that must be worked around might cost between $15 and $25 per stair.
