Excellent customer service, explained everything, professional work. Would have Hugo come back if I need repair of washer/dryer; dishwasher; oven; or refrigerator. More responsive and significantly savings compared to ABT. Hugo diagnosed the problem by listening to the noise my dryer was making over the phone; ordered the parts and came and fixed it the next day. Unlike Abt who can't get you on the schedule for a week and charges $165 just to diagnose the problem; then ABT orders the parts and has to come back in a week, The customer is often without the use of their appliance before ABT can come out and between the 1st diagnostic appointment and the second repair center. With technicians like Hugo on board, Thumbtacks is going to give ABT a run for their money. Jeff Cantor

I sent my dishwasher repair request in the morning and I received a quote back that afternoon. I called the next day with model number and explained the problem and the actual quote was given to me the same day. Setup the day and time and Dalius was on time and very friendly. The part he brought fixed the problem and I was given a 30 day parts and labor guarantee. Would recommend Dalius highly for any appliance repair you may have.

Joe did an incredible job remodeling my master bathroom taking out the old tub and installing a whirlpool one, removing the single sink vanity for a double sink and a new toilet. His tile work was very impressive and detailed and kept the area very clean throughout the whole remodeling process. Can't wait til spring when he can get started on my new deck. Nice work Joe and see you soon. Ryan M.

I called Matt to get my dryer and stove fixed. He had the lowest rate around as well as had a warranty on all parts and labor. I really liked that flat rate he uses which saved me TONS of $$$ compared to everyone else I called. Matt was right on time, had the parts needed for repairs on hand and was in and out within about an hour. I am very pleased with the services provided by Matt and will recommend him to all of my friends! If you need something fixed and dont want to spend a lot, give Matt a call! He does great work! Thanks Matt! - KAT -

Vlad responded quickly, maintained great communication and had my 30 year old gas dryer running like new all within 24 hours of my posting on thumbtack. While here he also reassembled a refridgerator/freeze that I had taken apart to move through a doorway. I could not be more pleased with Vlad's performance and professionalism. I highly recommend

They got here within the time range they said they would be here, which isn't easy to do in the service industry. When he walked in he put on foot covers. When he opened up the dryer he confirmed what he thought when i submitted the request online. He completed the job in about an hour. This included the time to get the parts to fix the dryer. I will call Budget Appliance Fix for any future appliance fix that is needed.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
