Oness is a great painter, dry waller and all around good guy. He added texture to part of our dinning room walls which had wallpaper removed and that had never had texture. He did an very good job of taping and covering all surfaces and keep the rest of the house clean. He also helped pick out colors and then repainted the whole room. I would hire him again with out hesitation. Larry Frank

Tanya staged a home that I heavily renovated for resale. The pieces that she chose fit the space well, and emphasized the function of each area. I was pleased with the modern feel of the selection, as well as Tanya's ability to listen to what I wanted and put it into play. Communication was always prompt and thorough. We staged the bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living, dining, and front porch areas. I will definitely hire Tanya again in the future. I can't speak to whether the staging helped with the sale because we just hit the market, but there is no question that her staging made the house "show-ready", and gave us curb appeal too.

They taped mudded and prepped with knockdown our new addition proximately 40 x 30'. They also are currently working on taking off the entire wall and ceiling of a Nother room and preparing it to be paint ready . The project is not finished however we are extremely pleased so far. with Jenna, and Corey, we have no doubt the job will be perfect when done. Price quotes are outstanding as well😀 I'm already recommended them to friends and family.

Ben painted a bedroom that we were converting into a guest room. He washed glue off the walls (wallpaper border and one wall had been on for 25 years, since before we owned the home). He did all the necessary patch work and texturing. He then applied two coats of paint to the ceiling, walls, and closet. He worked very efficiently but was also extremely careful meticulous. He went beyond our expectations, even removing paint from woodwork that had resulted from a "sloppy" job done years ago. The work had to be done on relatively short notice and within a short timeframe. Ben responded very quickly to our request for a quote, coming out the next evening. The quote was detailed and easy to understand. He completed the work well in advance of our deadline. The cost was very reasonable and matched up with what had been quoted. He was personable and a pleasure to work with. We we would definitely hire him again!

I am a Realtor and McGarrity Painting is my go to for all of my painting needs. They go above and beyond and that is why I trust refering then over anybody else. I also have been downright amazed at what they have done with some of my less then desirable listings. The paint jobs that they have done have made it possible to get subsatantially more money for my clients when it comes time to sell. I 100% trust them with my clients and their homes. If you are picky they are the painters for you.

She even makes custom furniture! If I have a design or painting need, I just call Heureux! They are all so talented and knowledgeable and make the process so easy. Jessalyn is an incredible designer and I would recommend her and Heureux Design to anyone in need of their many talents.

We hired Dave to refurbish a home prior to selling it. The home had long been neglected and needed new carpets, flooring, paint, plumbing and lighting fixtures, finish carpentry, drywall (in some rooms), and a number of repairs. Dave and his team did a great job with all of the requested work and made a number of suggestions that improved the final outcome. His team also helped us clear junk from some of the rooms to ensure that work started on time. He did all of the work with very little oversight and we were very pleased with the results. The project was completed on time and on budget.

Chris did an amazing job in my retail store prior to opening. He built a floating wall to separate the retail space from the back room, painted and installed fixtures. He was prompt, organized and very helpful.

Rich has helped us with multiple projects at our house and has never disappointed. He did a great job changing out our toilet and a quality job replacing our bathroom fixtures. He also did a nice job upgrading a light fixture in our dining room as well spackle the ceiling in that room. We also had a leaky roof and he took care of that too. I know who I will be calling when the next project comes up.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of work provided by Karen. She arrived on time, worked tirelessly in spite of very warm temperatures in the house, and did an excellent job painting my son's room. I chose a very dark blue for the ceiling of this room and lighter blue walls, so any imperfections would have been very obvious. We have hired several professional painters in the past, and I can honestly say that none of them came close to matching the quality that Karen provided. We will definitely hire her again.

We were in a pinch and Monty and Mike accommodated us by being flexible with their schedule to complete our work quickly and professionally. From the time I first talked with Monty, much of the interior of our first and second floors of an almost 4,000 square feet house was painted in three days. They worked almost 9 hours on a Saturday to finish the job. To save some money, I was painting two rooms of our house. They were so helpful in giving me pointers in how to handle issues that come up with non-professionals like me. For instance, different coats not matching, drips of paint on the base-board, how to tape properly, how to dry a brush quickly etc. It was a pleasure having them do our project and we will hire them again without hesitation next time we need painters.

Had the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, stairway and ceiling painted. All cracks were fixed and the end result looks fantastic. Ryan was very good on making suggestions and then following up concerns. The house really pops now that the job is complete. We have gotten many rave reviews on the new appearance from our guests since the job was completed. Everything was done on-time and per the quote. Definitely would recommend for anyone considering.

          Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

          How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

          • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
          • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
          • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
          • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
          • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
          • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
