Introduction: Want to get ahead of the curve or improve your understanding of mathematics and physics? Struggling with difficult math and physics courses? If teaching styles of instructors or schedules aren't working out, one on one tutoring can be immensely helpful to insure success with difficult classes.
I offer tutoring services in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Physics and also do test prepping for Compass, ACT, and SAT test.
I have an Associates of Science Degree in Liberal Arts from Madison Area Technical College, and have five years experience tutoring. One year tutoring Calculus 3 at MATC, and four years experience tutoring mathematics and physics privately for high school and college students. Resume available upon request.
Ability to collaborate with students, parents, and teachers, to determine student needs, discuss tutoring strategies, and assess student progress. Can develop specific teaching material such as, extra homework, extra notes on course material, study guides, or practice tests according to student’s needs.
My teaching style focuses on understanding the fundamental concepts and thought processes behind each subject, figuring out a comfortable pace for student to work at, and being patient and considerate.
Typically I cover topics by using techniques found in the course text book to help students further understand their text book material and hopefully also the teaching style of their instructor.
I can assign extra homework to focus on areas and techniques that are crucial for future studies in mathematics or for areas that students are struggling with.
The best way that I’ve found to keep up with a mathematics curriculum is to keep up with the weekly homework. Everything is building up off of the previous lessons. So the best way to keep up is to not let yourself get behind on homework. I also encourage students to read the chapter that their instructor is going to teach before class so that they have an idea of what the lecture is going to be about before hand. This can have a huge effect on the ability to understand lecture material and to identify unclear areas ahead of time so that students can focus extra attention towards these areas during the lecture.
I will be glad to discuss your academic situation and tutoring expectations and look forward to hearing from you!
