About
My curricula value the individuality and specific needs of each student. I teach in a way that encourages student curiosity and cultivates self-confidence to be successful in future learning. As a recent university graduate, I am well-acquainted with the modern education landscape and am very adaptable. I have extensive experience in college-level chemistry but enjoy all subjects from teaching young children how to read to ACT/SAT prep for older students. I graduated with my B.S. from UW-Madison and double majored in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, I teach ballet lessons for any age or experience level. I have been professionally trained in Vaganova Ballet and am skilled in flat-footed and pointe techniques. I have taught ballet for ages 18 and under for five years and have greatly enjoyed getting to know each student as an individual, competent dancer.

Emily tutored me in organic chemistry, and she was fantastic! I really appreciated how patient she was in guiding me through questions and how she would push beyond the surface of my questions to challenge my understanding of larger concepts. Her help over email and willingness to schedule additional sessions for exam prep were great too! She was very knowledgeable in chemistry and was invested in helping me suceed.

Having Emily as a tutor was extremely helpful. She is great at explaining concepts I didn't understand, and was invaluable when working through practice problems. She never made me feel bad about not understanding something and is extremely patient. I would highly recommend Emily as a tutor or student.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Tutoring: I hold a B.S. from UW-Madison and double majored in Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. I have tutored over 25 college students in chemistry during my time in university. Additionally, I worked at the UW-Madison Physics Museum as a docent where I frequently led groups of up to 40 K-12 students. I would give science-based demonstrations and answer/encourage student questions around the museum. I also have tutored elementary schoolers in reading and helped high-schoolers in ACT/SAT prep. Ballet: I have over a decade's worth of experience in Vaganova ballet. I have danced in a dozen ballet including Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and Raymonda from Raymonda. I have also performed twice in Moscow Ballet's The Nutcracker.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Tutoring: I have always loved learning and wanted to share this joy with others from a young age. Even in elementary school, I participated in a program where I tutored other elementary school students. From there, I continued to tutor at every opportunity I could find. Ballet: I stared ballet in 2nd grade and have been dancing ever since! Once I gained more experience, I would teach ballet lessons to younger students.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Tutoring: I have worked with elementary students for reading and math, highschoolers in math, science, and test prep, and college students in general and organic chemistry. Ballet: I have taught ballet to students 5-18 years old. This includes both regular technique classes as well as performance rehearsal. For ages 13-18 I have also taught en pointe.
