About
Beautiful, personal, and meaningful celebrations. Whether for weddings, memorials, or any special life events, I strive to make them thoughtful and memorable, just not religious. Let me describe what to expect should you honor me with the great privilege. I am a Humanist Celebrant, having the same full rights of any ordained clergy under the jurisdiction of the laws of all 50 states. Being non-religious and non-theist, my ceremonies celebrate life’s special occasions without evoking a deity, higher power, or clinging to a particular set of historical beliefs or dogma. Traditions can be fun and enrich the ceremony, but don’t expect prayers or readings from religious texts. There are plenty of other beautiful expressions that celebrate love and marriage that can create a unique and memorable experience for you and your family and guests. To personalize your ceremony, it's best to meet for an hour a couple weeks before to set expectations and understand how many people you might honor with roles and how to orchestrate their participation. I do like to be prepared, learn people’s names, and usually available for a walk through before. It’s not mandatory, but if I'm not needed at the rehearsal, we should at least find some time, even a few minutes before the guests arrive, to rehearse. My base fee includes a preliminary meeting, customized scripting, walk through, the actual ceremony, and preparation and registration of the wedding certificate. I will cover all travel expenses. I am happy to help you write your vows and, of course, participate at the rehearsal. For any questions don’t hesitate to contact me. Robert did an amazing job officiating our wedding. He listened to our ideas and incorporated them into a beautiful ceremony that was very meaningful to us. He was right on time and handled a family members unplanned speech, quite tactfully. We got several comments afterwards from guests who enjoyed his presence. Thank you Robert ❤️

Bob did an incredible job!! He was committed to making sure that the ceremony was exactly what we wanted, and it truly was! When my husband and I first discussed the ceremony, we weren't sure what kind of ceremony we wanted or what elements we wanted included, but Bob guided us through the process of discovering our vision for the ceremony. He shared a range of traditional and unconventional service elements with us and helped us brainstorm completely new ideas. He was also considerate of the wants of all family members and helped us reach consensus on various decisions. He also wrote elements of the ceremony that were beautiful, personal, and fit the tone of our event wonderfully. In the end, the ceremony was perfect--unique, fun, moving, and reflective of our personalities and values. We can't thank Bob enough.

Bob made the event everything we wanted. He provided all the prompts and helped to guide us into making the event unique and perfect for us. His kind words and ability to add the exact right levels of pomp and circumstance that everyone expected when all we could say was 'keep it simple,' struck a perfect balance.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After initial contact and answering any questions the couple might have, I ask for a $50 down payment to reserve the celebration day. A couple months before, I like to meet with the couple to discuss their desires, the roles friends, family, or the wedding party might have during the ceremony, and get to know what is important and meaningful that I might be able to incorporate in the event. We trade ideas for readings, vows, discuss traditions and elements of the celebration and ceremony that the couple might desire. I then compile and write the ceremony to the length we agree upon. A week or so before, we review and finalize it. Either the night before or sometime before guests arrive we run through the staging and final details so we all know what to expect.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Friends asked then, my children requested I officiate, and then it just snowballed.
