We were happy to have both our plumbing and roofing done by the same contractor. He also did other minor repairs that we had on the list. Scheduled the repairs in a quick time frame. Very professional.
Framing and drywalling of basement - Everything went as planned and Brian's communication was great. Overall, Brian was very easy to work with, his work is top notch and he is committed to doing the job right. I will definitely use him again for any future improvements/projects.
Erich did an amazing job!! I can't say enough about his work. He picked-up my project after my previous carpenter bailed. It is very refreshing to see that there still are quality contractors out there!! A+++++ work. Great work at a reasonable price. Hire him, you'll thank me later.
Jake is not only a warm, friendly guy but his business partner Jeremy is equally great. They are both dedicated, use time wisely, add great architectural taste and ideas in a project, and work very hard. Work was done on time, within budget totally, and a few extras were added as a bonus that we had not thought of. They are great workers and designers and just all together great guys. I cannot recommend this company enough. I know you will be delighted with their work. They mostly do the work themselves with subcontractors where needed, such as cement work or electrical, but they are master carpenters themselves with a great view of a project and how to make it the very best for you. Thank you so much, Jake and Jeremy.
The problem was with my side garage door causing locking problems. Though everything looked level and plumb there were some very slight tolerance differences. We took the strike plates off and cut the the nails holding the door frame to the rough opening. There were also two screws, one top and one bottom that were also removed from the strike side. The brick molding from the strike side and top were then removed allowing us to tap the top of the strike side in toward the garage and then tested the locking mechanisms for alignment and ease. Once in proper place, we secured the strike side top and bottom to hold it in place. When we had removed the brick molding we discovered that once the door was properly aligned, the sheathing on the strike side stuck out approximately a 1/4 inch. It became clear that the original contractor failed to square up the hinge side of the door opening with the strike side of the door opening thus there existed a slight torqueing of the door in the opening. With that, and the addition of cold and heat expansion and contraction, locking the door was problematic. We managed to trim down a 3/4 by 1/4 area of the sheathing so the brick mold would sit flat on the sheathing and door frame keeping the appropriate setback from the edge. We were also able to accomplish the work without affecting the siding at all. I had a piece of brick molding consistent with what was there so we were able to replace the strike side molding which I cut on my compound miter saw. Everything fit in perfectly and the door is easily closed and locked. What remains is some slight shimming, recaulking the top and strike side, and another coat of paint on the trim.
Rick was great and very accommodating. I had a new aluminum frame put onto my garage door, was sick of having to paint wood. The workmanship is extremely professional and pricing was very reasonable. Will definitely use service again with other projects around the house and would recommend Rick to anyone needing a great contractor.
I had an area that looked like mold along the basement drywall. The guys (and girl) at Spore Buster Mold Remediation did a good job of just removing enough drywall to get rid of the damaged parts but not do a whole demo job on my basement like another company wanted to do. - Dennis, Mchenry IL
B4 M was hired for roofing and siding job. They did an awesome job!
Bulldog Builders did a great job on our turret repair. We had a bad leak on a very steep roof that met up at the turret. Bulldog Builders scheduled our repair very quickly, to avoid more damage to our home (we had water leaking down walls upstairs from snow melt) and the job was expertly finished in 1 day. They have an expert staff that went above and beyond to help out our family. Bulldog Builders were polite, friendly and professional, they were punctual and did a great job on our repair. They had to remove old shake and asphalt shingles, as well as a bad patch job with rotted metal and wood. They did a custom roof repair to angle water from the trouble spot where water was pooling, using quality materials to complete the job, which came with an excellent warranty. We are extremely happy with the job that was done by bulldog builders, and will call for future projects on our home.
We hired Steamatic for some drywall repair and painting as well as carpet cleaning. Alex and his team did a great job on the drywall and painting. They were able to match the texture that was already there and we were very pleased with the finished look. We were also very happy with the carpet cleaning.
Rick and the Grosskopf team have been an essential part of our projects. We first met Rick while sourcing General contractors for a substantial rehab of a residential home. Rick started our first project and it was clear that his workmanship and communication skills were among the strongest of any contractor we have worked with. Ricks willingness to reach goals within timelines, exceed expectations, and go beyond the job to add his personal touch has been exceptional to work alongside with. It is no surprise we have hired him exclusively for our proceeding projects. I would recommend Grosskopf Construction for any job large or small. Rick brings his A game no matter the size of you project. We look forward to working with Rick and his team who continue to epitomize hardworking, intelligent, and experienced contractors.
I hired Karl to install a new entry door and a storm door. Both were security doors with steel frames requiring some improvisation and proved rather challenging. He completed the entire project over two afternoons and left the entryway in better condition than it was originally. He even went shopping for the mouldings that I neglected to purchase with the doors. His cost was also where I anticipated it to be. There were quite a few hiccups in transitioning from a wooden frame to a metal frame and he handled each one quite expertly. Great job Karl, and thanks again!
Rick came a distance to give us an estimate and was able to tell us on the spot. He even gave us tips for some other house projects that we are doing on our own. His estimate and timeline was the most reasonable of all bids we got. He was able to start the project within two weeks. When he ran into an unanticipated electrical problem he spent the afternoon calling electricians until one could immediately come out. Everything was done in the time frame we were given. We are so happy with the end result. Would hire again.
Seth completed many projects I was wanting done including drywall, tile, painting, shelving. He was flexible and made suggestions to make the projects better.
They did a great job with our window installation. Will definitely hire again in the future.
MPF was there start to finish in a professional manor they took care of everything to complete the project at a very fair cost I was very pleased with the workmanship and time frame compared to other contractors I have used Thanks MPF
Mike was personable, a contractor who kept his word and timely. Needed job done by certain date he met and exceeded expectation. Further he was kind enough to offer to put furniture back knowing I could not lift, I will schedule other projects with him
Dan put steel support posts along one whole wall of our basement. He provided a detailed quote, did excellent, high-quality work and did it very quickly for me. I liked the quality of the posts and the fact that they were made to fit my house. He designs it to fit your situation. My supports needed extra brackets per code, he made them. Dan comes through and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
We had Steve install a powder room in our basement in June of 2012. Framing, dry wall, door, tile floor, vanity, toilet, electrical, ceiling, exhaust fan, heater. From our first meeting, through the entire project, to completion, our experience could not have been better. Of the contractor's we had look at the job Steve was the only one who listened to what we wanted. He made suggestions and gave us options to think about but he listened and provided us with a bid for a project that was what we wanted. Steve was outstanding to work with, he communicated exactly what, when, why and how he was completing the work. He was on schedule, on budget, and extremely easy to work with. His work ethic, quality, and pride in his work shows in the finished project. He used a plumber, electrician a carpenter assistant, who are just as excellent as Steve. They have the same work ethic and pride that Steve has, communicate like Steve and are a pleasure to work with. Our finished project is excellent and exactly what we wanted. The entire process was no hassle. Steve handled all permits and details. He said it would be painless and it was. We have used Steve for another small project, had him inspect a home our daughter was buying and have recommended him highly to our friends. He is now bidding on some work at our daughter's new home. We believe that Steve is the best. Honest, friendly, does what he says he will do, when he says it will be done, with excellent quality. It is a treat to work with someone who is as good as Steve. It would not be possible for me give Steve a high enough recommendation. Work with Steve and you will not be sorry.
This was a design-build project. Ray Habenicht, owner of Habenicht Homes, started with a big empty attic. First, Ray insulated it carefully then framed in the bedroom, closet, and corner storage areas. Then he hung dry-wall and finished the rooms, which had a multitude of difficult, yet charming attic angles. The finished product is delightful and aesthetically pleasing. At this point they primed and painted walls and ceilings. Ray built a tray ceiling with molding and inset lights where a ceiling fan will hang. He built doors to match our 1905 Colonial four-square farmhouse, including smaller versions for the bedroom corner storage areas and one to fit the attic bedroom closet. He trimmed out all the windows and doors, again to match the rest of the home, then added bead board and trim to the walls of the great room area. He built bead board-trimmed doors into the corner storage areas that almost disappear into the rest of the bead board/trim. I say almost, but hasten to say that I'm glad they are a little noticeable, they are so very pleasant. He built-in a special reading nook, with the bookcase modeled after a painting by Swedish painter, Carl Larsen. The south end of the great room includes two built-in desks with drawers (for our homeschooling children to share), two clever bookcases with cubby holes below for baskets, and a large beautiful window seat that opens for storage. Ray was good at re-purposing left-over materials to cut costs. For instance, he suggested using the (beautiful) flooring to top the window-seat and cap off the half-walls. He built-in another desk for a home office as well as a DVD-player cabinet with storage into the half-wall . Ray transformed an unfinished attic into a show-room piece with many personal touches. The craftmanship is amazing. Ray is more than a carpenter, he is a designer, and, really, an artist. Taking our dreams and making them reality. Truly, our attic is not only functional and efficient, it has our personality written all over it. As people come upstairs for the first time they take a deep breath and breathe out, "Wow!"
