Punctual, professional and very thorough! I would recommend Jess to anyone looking- she also didn't seem to be bothered one bit by my curious dogs who wanted to "help" her.

We made plans for a trip and then learned that our cat sitter, a neighbor, would not be available. We came to Thumbtack for help and Susan responded promptly. After talking to her on the phone we felt comfortable and invited her to visit us and our kitty. We became completely comfortable after meeting her and her husband. She took excellent care of our cat while we were away. We will definitely hire her again.

Cassidy does a great job with our Goldendoodle Doug! We have her stop at least twice a week to let Doug out, take him for a walk and play with him. Cassidy has even started to teach Doug some new commands. She communicates well and lets us know when she arrives and leaves. We would recommend Cassidy to anyone that needs a dog walker, pet sitter or just someone to spend some extra time with their dog.

Kimberly was punctual, courteous and professional. She did a great job and got along great with our dog and my almost 4 year old. I definitely plan to use her services again. I was a bit leery on using anyone for cleaning services, but decided to give it a shot. If you are also "on the fence" you should give her a try, you will not be disappointed.

Katie truly is a Wonder Dog Sitter Extraordinaire! I am a busy professional, and sometimes my sweet Barney would be home alone for hours - until I found Katie. She cares for my puppy as if he were her own. She goes above and beyond routine care. I trust her implicitly with Barney and in my home. Thank you, Katie. :)

We found Yvonne via Thumbtack and she has been WONDERFUL! We immediately saw a change in our Coonhound having consistent support and attention when my husband and I have busy work schedules and I travel. She also has assisted us in connecting with other resources and training. She is more than just a dog "sitter", she has truly become a LIFE-SAVER!

About

I have been referred to as "Sheboygan's Dog Whisperer." While I don't think I should have my own TV show, I do believe that what I can teach people about dogs is amazing. I have seen the bond between people and dogs grow as I work with them and that has made all the difference. Dogs need to trust their leaders, and that is what I give to people...trust and loyalty.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
